They called me about my ex-husband that I haven't really been in contact with for over 20 years. How they got my cell phone number is a mystery. They said this was concerning a court summons, and for him to call them right away or the summons would be in jeopardy, like he was unresponsive to a summons. Right then I knew it had to be a scam. I called him and he verified that they are scams and that he had no court summons, and why would anyone do a court summons by phone anyway?

I was given this number by a courier trying to deliver docs to my sister. This number apparently goes to a department that files civil documents per the young lady that answered the phone. I hung up, since it wasn't for me. But i will give it to my sister. Maybe we can get some more info.

Thanks for your info. I am very concern. Now, they are targeting seniors which is a vulnerable population.

Appears to be some sort of generalized scam hitting seniors.  If you receive one of these calls you can easily verify its validity by calling up your local courthouse and seeing if there are any cases filed with your name on it.  Fact is, if you were going to get a summons there would already have been a case filed in your local courthouse.  And you would have received a letter from the attorney for the other side and you'd have a paper trail. You would NOT have first heard about it from some scammery scummery debt collector who cold calls you and demands money.  Ignore and block the calls.

    Report them:

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.
