Post up the legal verifiable business name, street address, city and state.. if you dealt with them, then you have this information nd shouldn't have a problem posting it up! Googling a company's web site doesn't make it legit either.   Got a BBB page, post it up!

no but contacting the original creditor and having them verify that they are the agency handling does make them real, but hey people who dont pay debts will always have something to say ;)

It is up to the debt collector to prove that they have a legal right to collect the alleged bill and that the bill actually exists as well as to prove that they party they are contacting actually owes it.  Not the other way around.  This is the law.   The only people who fail to follow the law are criminals.

I received a call with a voicemail about this being a debt collector.  I called back, but no one answered.  It didn't even ring!  The robo name left in the message was Jennifer.

When you dont pay a bill and it goes to collections, you know you owe it. when you want V.O.D its either because you dont remember, creditors may have changed so you dont know the name or im just giving to much credit and people just want to go through the dispute process so you wont have to pay if the creditor no longer has proof of the debt- i knew i owed this particular bill- i knew they were the ones handling it and i paid it. plus i got the FDCPA letter in the mail, received payment reminder letters, got my paid off letter. if someone doesnt want to pay their bills/debts, well hey to each their own! and if a collection agency makes contact with you they will send you the FDCPA within 5 days of speaking to you. i got mine before i ever got a call from them.
burden of proof is on the them but you need to send letter stating your dispute and then they will take it from there

Received 3 calls back to back from this number.  They left one message saying it was an attempt to collect a debt and to call back.  I called back because I know I don't have anything in collections so I was curious.  When I called back, supervisor, Jason Stacy answered.  I said that I had received a message to callback.  He said well did they ask for you by name? I said, it was an automated message.  Then he stated he was calling for ****. I said well this is not his number.  He said do you know him?  I stated, I do.  He then started reading his address and last four of social and I said I didnt know.  It ended up being a debt from like 10 years ago that my husband and his ex wife had.  I stated to him that the debt ad nothing to do with me and that I would appreciate it if he didn't call my number.  He kept calling me the ex wife's name and telling me this was my debt.  I kept telling him I was not her.  He then started accusing me of lying and telling me that He was going to come after me for this debt and that I was stupid enough to marry this dumbass loser then I should have to repay his debts.  I told him to stop calling and harassing me and that there's no reason for them to call my number because the debt had nothing to do with me.  He then said, it's called Google dumbass, G O O G L E.... You were stupid enough to marry him, now you and your number are tied to him.  I told him to get a life and a real job and to go screw himself and I hung up on him.

I don't owe anyone anything.  This has to be some kind of scam!

These debt collectors called for a person who might have had my phone # three families back. They surreptitiously record calls, an Elk Grove, CA debt collector should know that there is a possible $5,000 statutory penalty under Penal Code section 637.2 for surreptitiously recording a CA resident, as we are a dual consent state. Initial caller refused to provide an address for the company.

Call blocker might be of some help.  Also don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize, or where there are caller IDs that seem odd.  Or where there is no caller ID.
