Received a call on my mom's cell phone from someone who was trying to reach me with the "lawsuit pending against you" scam. Don't fall for or believe a word they say. They left no company name, or legitimate information, just tried to say that there is a pending lawsuit and I need to call them immediately... blah, blah blah. Same scam as always. Since I changed my phone number last year, they can no longer harass me, so have now resorted to trying to contact people in my family.  This all stems from my online application for a loan about 6 years ago, which I never ended up taking. My information has been sold to every criminal out there who have been trying for years to convince me that I have some legal case pending for an unpaid loan I never received. Yet I have never once received a piece of mail, or court document to back up the claims.  Please, people,  DON'T FALL FOR THESE LOSERS AND THEIR FALSE THREATS! Don't return the calls, or respond to them in any way. They will continue to harass you ONLY if they think they can get your money...

    Bugged By Idiots
I got a call from this number while at work, so I didn't answer. The voice message didn't include a business name, but eluded to some "involuntary demand" from a MN county pertaining to a man I divorced back in 1990! Funny, they referred to him as a "she" since his name is unisex. That was a clue they have no idea who they're dealing with. The number is also VERY close to one I have had to block due to harassment stemming from an on-line loan refinance offer from Acorn. The terms weren't really of any benefit to me, so I declined the loan offer. My complaint sounds a lot like that of Smarty Pants posted January 8th!

    Tired of these guys
Mr Mason from a NCC debt collection.  Asked for his business address and of course he refused. They are scammers and will not give validation of debt which is federally required as well as their mailing address.  They  can't threaten you with arrest.  They stated they were a debt collection agency and not under the FTC jurisdiction.  He is a real idiot.  Ask for proof of debt in writing not email, get physical address and if they give you one check it...probably fake, not a post office box.  They will asked for payment from a prepaid credit/debit card which is another red flag.  Harass them back....call them over and over asking for proof of their business legitimacy and address, being registered in your state to do business.  Mr Mason is probably a fake name as well because he is scared to give his real information and location, but wants your money....NOT!!!!!!

Company called stating they were going to serve court summons on person who does not even live here. Told them I was not that person and to take me off their list. They said they would. Half an hour later, they called back under 714-591-8169 with same story. Company refuses to give name and address. Claims they are debt collection agency and does not have to provide company info.

Total scam.  No process server calls you up in advance and tells you they are going to serve you.  Ignore and block the calls.

Received a call today from this number
They were trying to get payment from my mom for an online loan which she received in February 2010, they said she was makinging payments until it stopped in Dec 2010, when I asked them to send documentation of this transaction, they wanted to settle over the phone....NO WAY
My mom doesn't even know how to turn on a computer!!!  (Dead give away)
She got cocky and said that I'm supposed to take care of my mother and pay her bills, and that they were going to see her on court!!
I told her OK, see you in court and she abruptly hung up
Don't fall for these scammers, we received a similar call last year July, and am still waiting for that documentation on that transaction....
They will try and wheel and deal you over the phone to try and get any amount by credit card payment ....DONT  FALL FOR IT, ask for documentation or proof first and confirm that the transaction did take place,

I'm really tired of these people
I received a call on my home phone, which I never use except for internet service, from a David Allen telling me that he has been trying to reach my mother (and he couldn't even pronounce her name) from Maricopa County which had my name also included on this and wanted me to call back with her also to get this resolved.  He left no company name.  When I call the number back, it rang and rang and finally an automated answering service said that no one was available at the time and I should leave a message.  Funny, when it was answered, no company name or no introduction was given.  SCAM!!!!!

I received the same call from a David Allen with NCC stating that I had a payday loan that was not paid in 2009 and it now has a balance of 1864 and they can make a one time offer of 660.84 and if I don't pay they will start garnishing my checks or prosecute for payment

They can't "start" garnishing anything until they properly serve you, you go to court and lose, and then they get a judge to sign off on it, assuming that wage garnishment is allowed in your state.  That would certainly not be a situation where they would be prosecuting you since it would be a civil trial not criminal;.

This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
