My mother received one of these cards and called the number. There was no answer, just a bunch of menus which alway brought her back to the beginning.

What is the scam? Is it possible they charge by the minute if they receive a phone call?

BBB Western PA warns about deceptive mailings that are being sent to consumers in the form of a postcard. The postcard claims that a package could not be delivered to you and states, “Sorry we missed you!!!”

The postcard is from:

Express Package Delivery (EPD)
P.O. Box 131690

Phone: 888.472.5335 or 903.839.1500

The postcard instructs you to “Call to schedule pickup”. After calling the number, consumers are asked for the twelve-digit pickup number and then told that they have a free vacation package. Consumers are then asked for a credit card number to pay for a “…nominal delivery fee,” which must be paid in advance. CONSIDER THIS ACTIVITY TO BE A RED FLAG.

On calling the number, the consumer is specifically:

· asked for 12 digit pickup number on card

· asked for credit card number to pay for a “nominal” delivery fee which must be paid in advance

· consumers state EPD is using deceptive marketing tactics, since there was no attempted delivery

· EPD has the BBB's lowest rating.

BBB ADVICE

This is a questionable selling tactic to attempt to sell vacation certificates and to gain access to credit card information.

My postcard has a partial postal cancelation / postmark: .....LER, TX

Response will show "AKA CDA Consulting LLC" click on that link
Response will show names, addresses and phone numbers used by EPD.
Also has names of owner and key employees.
Included is a comprehensive list of issues.
This operation has a BBB grade of F, lowest grade BBB has.

Suspect this company also responsible for those irritating, daily, repetative and offensive "caller id not available" phone calls.

same card, numbers behind the polar bear, 2823 abd 45,  I called, got computer that kept telling me don't hang up, your call is VERY important to us, over and over.........whatever.  They put so much emphasis on it that I came here to check it out...........

Just got the SAME postcard today..I do know that when Fed-Ex or UPS need for me to arragne pickup, they leave a sticker on the door..so I googled first! I won't be calling! Green card, polar bear stamp, looks like it faintly says something about East Texas on the stamp cancellation thing...
