- TheFenskIt is the Citi Client Messaging center. Citibank manages revolving credit charges for dozens of companies like Citgo, Shell, Sears ... and I believe these yahoos are a related third party collection service for citi.
Usually you get these calls if you are overdue on one of those, even by a few days. One time I used them to make my payment on a gas card ... yes I was late. There was an immense mixup with the payment and it was a huge hassle, caused BY THEM, but I had to do all the work to get it resolved ... get my bank statement and date and reference number of the payment. So, if you or someone in your household has a card, this is probably a legitimate call ... but make your payment in your normal way ... that's my advice.- Call type: Debt collector

- YolandaGot a call from 1-888-472-4945. Asked me to punchi n my zip, which I did. They state they are attempting to collect an overdue payment of 90$ and a few cents. I have a citi card but do not have any outstanding balances. They wanted me to hit "1" to pay my debt via my bank put in my account information from my bank and hit number "2" to use my debit card and give them my number which I did neither. I tried to hit "3" or "0" hoping to speak with a operator but I did not get one. The message kept repeating itself and no real representative came on the phone. I hung up and they keep calling me back. I even got a tect message from them today.
Sounds like one giant SCAM to me.- Caller: Citi Client first

- Red FacedRegarding 888-472-4945 only: Here's my experience today...
They called and asked me to confirm my name, and I said yes. He started asking for more info (like my Phone #), to which I got hostile and said: "YOU called ME and now you are asking ME for MY phone #??". After a few more choice words, in which I told him I've never been late on anything, I hung up on him. After all, he wouldn't even tell me the last 4 digits of an account number!
Then I looked into all my accounts and called the number on the back of one of my Citi cards. Turns out I made a charge by phone months ago (an AMEX ticket presale for Depeche Mode) with a card that I keep in my drawer. I never saw a statement (lost in mail?) and indeed, now I've got a late balance. (oops!) But why the heck the guy on the phone couldn't make any connection to establish my account to him is beyond me. It was like he was with a collection agency, except Citi explained to me that he wasn't. (And I gave it to him really good before I hung up on him!)
My advice: When in doubt, hang up and call the number on the back of your card(s): it is always legit!
(And if you choose to call the guy an [***], like I did, you might feel bad about it afterward when you find out it was a legitimate call. Not my finest moment...)- Caller: Citi Client First
- Call type: Debt collector
