Fraudsters claim to be a subsidiary of AT&T.  NOT!  Claim that rate will be reduced by 20%.  NOT!  It went up by more than 400%.

My neighbor was charged who lives in the same building as I do and when she called at&t they told her that I was the one who initiated the charge thru a computer ad. I live in the same building but we all own are own condo and I have comcast for my phone service and have never dealt with at&t for years. They did get a credit back but how can they say that I was the one who did this when we live in two different condos and have totally different phone numbers. They gave her my first and last name which is very strange. I am now researching this further and may even get an attornewy involved to do some dirty work for me and also see about getting at&t held responsible for letting this happen. They should now where this charge is coming from and when this comes up on a consumers bill they should do there investigating.

Got slammed by USBI, said they were AT&T.  Said my bill would be less - NOT.  When I try to call, a person answers.  While I am speaking they hang up (5 times). What do I do?

I had the same problem as above.  When I called USBI to get credits on my account, the person was horribly rude and condesending and complete and utter JERK!  DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ON YOUR ACCOUNTS FROM INBOUND CALLS.  AT&T does not make outbound calls to change your services.  You need to contact them.  Nor do they make in person visits to your place of business.

USBI aded 17.15 to my ATT phone bill.  ATT first told me they would remove the charge -- then they put my account in a past due status.  I called ATT today (10/29/2009) and a rude customer service rep put me on hold.  Then I got transferred about a dozen times.  finally--I had to give up......I was running late for college.  Can you imagine?  ATT ripping off college student!

I run a small business and the same thing happened to me.  I had gotten a call in Dec from a company that had introduced themselves as ATT and they had stated that if i agreed to this recording that my phone bill would be reduced by 20% or so well of course I agreed and my phone bill was normal for about a month and then I started receiving weird charges on my statement from ATT and then come March's bill I received a fee from United Telecom Inc.  When I contacted ATT all they could do was dispute the charge on their end and had me call United Telecom.  When I called this scamming company I spoke to a representative that was rude and unhelpful.  She stated that I had agreed to this charge etc etc.  I argued with her about the charge and told her I wasn't paying it.  I'm sick of companies like this scamming everyone!  I used to have ATT at home and another scammer did the same thing.  That time they kept stating the my husband signed up for mainstreaming music from online which included something to do with phone coverage.  The messed up part was they stated he signed up for this service at 4 am...LOL

I am really sick of these people scamming everyone.  What can we do?!

So I have a land line in my house. Our service provider is verizon. We have the triple play that includes, phone, internet & Cable. Under our plan, we have unlimited local & long distance calling. The bill is under my boyfriends Dad's name. Someone called him a month ago saying they were a part of verizon, (their preferred billing department). They told him that he wasn't using all of his long distance minutes so they offered to give him a better deal on the bill.

The first thing wrong is that they have no way to tell how many minutes you use for long distance. Even Verizon cannot tell because we have unlimited calling.

So they told us we could save money on our bill. Who wouldn't want to save money? So my boyfriends dad asked if he will still have unlimited local & long distance calling. They assured him that he would. He was also under the impression that these people were from Verizon. So he agreed to the plan.

We got our phone bill today saying that we owe $396 for just our phone bill. Our bill for phone, internet & cable come to about $200 a month. I called Verizon and said that there was no way I was paying this bill. I got back onto the Verizon phone plan (which we thought we were already on). I had them put a freeze/hold on our account. So this way no company can do this to us ever again. Also a third party is now needed if we ever make changes to our plan.

Also by not paying the bill, it will cause Verizon to terminate your services. It shows up on your Verizon bill even though its another company.

I was then given the number to USBI. I called them and asked to speak to a manager. She basically told me that he knew that the company was not apart of Verizon. I said that how they worded things made him believe he was. She then try to give me a credit but trying to confuse me to stay with them at the same time. I told her flat out that I am not agreeing to anything she says because I am not sure what I am agreeing to. I told her flat out that I never wanted to leave Verizon in the first place. And also that I wanted all of my money refunded.

I told her that I would call the Better Business Bureau, the local news & maybe even the FCC. She then said that they will credit my account for almost all of the charges. The final charges came out to $466. I would only have to pay $46.91. I agreed to this so I could just get off the phone. But I later realized that i could have fought those charges as well.

I now have to wait 1 to 2 billing cycles for the credit to show up, (which USBI told me that it would only take 48 hours). Verizon informed me that this is allowed by the FCC. Companies like USBI have found a loop hole. Verizon (and I'm sure other phone companies) have to allow this because the FCC says so. I think that it is nothing but a scam. A lot of people are getting taken advantage of. I would call your phone provider to protect you from this happening. Please share this info with people you know.

USBI billing on behalf of United Telecom showed up on my small business bill. They are slamming, which means they are changing long distance carrier to United Telecom and charging through local telephone third party billing.  I along with local telephone rep. also reached Adeline @ United Telecom, she is very rude, and refuses credit.  I have filed an FCC Slamming complaint, the company can face up to $40,000 fine for slamming.  Is a simple process and I recommend anyone else with this problem to report it. FCC Slamming Complaint Form 501. Can get the form at fcc.gov and fax, email, or mail it to the slamming team.  I also placed what's called a PIC freeze, along with a third party block on our long distance so that it cannot be changed without my direct approval.

I run a small business too.  I am a private consultant for Government, and small to medium business.  My email is Dan@MyWirelessCo.com.  We do not resell anything.  We simply stop things like this from being put on your phone bill.  We are located just outside of Savannah GA.  The name of my company is Wireless Consultants LLC.
You can email me if you have a company that needs help with this kind of issue.  We are very good at getting ALL of your money back from these guys.  We have a very good track record and we will be glad to send referral letters to anyone interested in our services.  We bill a small percentage of what we save you, so no risk!  We can lower your AT&T bill and take the guess work out of it.  We see hundreds of AT&T bills every month.  We know what you should be paying.  We will get you the lowest available price for what you NEED.  Not what some AT&T sales rep wants you to have.

Email me and I will get back to you with some easy solutions.  If you are not a business, just call them and ask for your money back.  They will usually give it back if you catch it quick.
If you run a business or government agency and the bill has slipped by for some time now, just email me and I will tell you how we can get started getting your money back and then some.

    I hope this helps.

Is it actually AT&T??  Other posters seem to think it is a third party billing you.  You need to contact your bank or credit card company if the company fails to act.  No one here can help you with a refund.

This number has not been reported in  four years.

I noticed 24.42 on my century link bill and when I called regarding this, it was listed under optional charges. The charge was from USB I who charged me since October 2015 for something I never ordered. I called and spoke with Ashley who claimed she was a supervisor and was arguing with me. I was appalled. I asked her to be connected to someone who is over her. She claimed no one. I have never seen such unprofessional idiot fraudulent people. I have already filed a complaint with this company to The consumer fraud bureau, and the state attorney generals office and hope these scammed can be put out of business and a illegal job.
