Got a postcard with Alaska Airlines logo that offered free round trip ticket for 2 if we call this no.  Went to the Vacation Choices speel last Saturday in Salem OR given by a Steve from Hawaii.  (a reasonably entertaining hour).  Everything was directed to show the money spent in the long run would save us thousands!  Every one of us 9 couples had a salesperson assigned (we got Steve) to try to sell their $ 9995 membership, along with a $ 349 activation fee plus $ 299 yearly membership fee.  In quickly flipping through slides showing us selected trips of how much money we would save, they didn't explain the date(s) in the corners that the trips had to be used by (always changing) but alot of them were only 1 date; presumably to fill up a trip. When the first couple bought into it, the salesperson made an announcement. 2 couples bought. Due to our hesitation, the salesman kept reducing the price. Got all the way down to $1000 plus the activation fee. We didn't feel comfortable with an impulse buy like that, and were leery about actual savings on trips we may have been interested in plus we just don't have that much time available to travel to make that plan payoff. Turns out the 'free' airfare tickets have a $100 activation fee and $75 per person handling fee plus taxes, fees, etc.  I've no idea what destinations are avialble but not "anywhere" as stated on the post card.   Basically, just a BUYER BEWARE situation, based on our experience.
