- Lee Lee replies to Fakee RRThis automated only option is new to me. It used to be a person asking those questions. I like the automated version better because its faster. Ive been a customer since03 but i can definitely see why it would seem fishy to you lol. Plus it is possible ppl without suntrust accounts have the former phone numbers of account holders and the system hasnt been updated
- LisaSon received a message from this number 888-494-0586 on May 10, 2016 at 5:37pm est. I called the general Customer Service number for SunTrust listed on their website, got to the Fraud Dept. & asked if this was a valid number for them. They spoke with my son & a purchase was flagged (for some reason) that he made 2 days ago and they just needed to see if he was the one who made it. She told my son that that WAS their Fraud Dept's phone number.
With this in mind, there's always a chance that someone may be spoofing their phone number so I suggest you call SunTrust's General Customer Service, get through to the Fraud Dept. and check to see if they have a question about a recent purchase. No biggie.- Caller: SunTrust Fraud Dept.
- David replies to tideI just called SunTrust and they verified the phone number and told me that they had closed my credit card account because of fraudulent charges. They are changing the account number and sending me a new card
- Dr. SThis is a number for the Sun Trust Fraud Dept. Like others I was very suspicious and went to great lengths to insure that the call was not bogus. I called Sun Trust directly myself and they were able to verify that there had been fraudulent charges on my account, the charges had been blocked, my card had been cancelled as a precaution, and a claim had been filed on my behalf to dispute the charges. To double check I had them give me the total amount of disputed charges and the claim number. They matched. I'm grateful to Sun Trust for being so vigilant and proactive.

- Lauren replies to givemeabreakHow do I report fraud on my card?
- ACJI just received a call from this number and let it go to voice mail. I called it back and it is indeed Suntrust's fraud detection department. The automated program listed two charges that it thought were questionable, and I verified them.

- E W replies to RWHWrong. It is Suntrust
- E W replies to VickiWrong. It is Suntrust but it doesnt hurt to call your bank directly
- DI don't have an account or card with suntrust and got a call from this number! I get many calls that I don't recognize the numbers and don't answer them, they don't leave messages so I block them. This number came up 800 service then underneath 1-888-494-0586. Think it is scam
- GeoCalled business and no one on the other line.

- RhondaThis is Suntrust Fraud Department. Today, the cashier at the store entered my card as a credit card. However, it is a debit check card so ultimately I had to swipe twice before I entered my PIN. Within a few minutes, I got a text alert from Suntrust about potential fraud transaction. Then I received a call from this number, 888-494-0586. They requested personal information but I would not provide it to them. Instead, I called the number on the back of my Suntrust Debit card and contacted their Fraud Department that way; they confirmed that both the text and the call had come from them. They also identified the purchase amount in question. It is legit.

- WillIt is a legitimate SunTrust fraud department number. They do have more than one line, do you really think one number handles all the calls? The main number on your card forwards your call to an available customer service representative that has their own line. Anyway this is the automated warning system you have with your account.
I get both a phone call and a text message from this number for fraud alerts. I was wary at first, called the number on the back of my card, and it was verified to be real, a stop had been put on my card for a purchase I had made online, they unlocked it immediately. Just today I got multiple texts and phone calls to contact SunTrust fraud through this number. But as I always do, I call the number on the back of the card just in case of a spoofed forwarded number from a scammer. Yes, it was a real warning, two charges, one for the Bakersfield Condors in California and one for a dental office in Michigan, both on my wife's card, someone manually inputed the card number from online.
Anyway, it is a real number, but always call the number on the card regardless, scammers are technologically savvy.- Caller: SunTrust Fraud Department
- Chris replies to tideLegit, just confusing, I called Suntrust # on card, they confirmed suspicious activity. Rule of thumb, always call # on card!
- MLegit number from SunTrust card security services - I wasn't sure so I called the customer service number on SunTrust's website, and they verified I had a fraud alert on my card and connected me with card security services, where they cancelled my card and are issuing me a new one. Someone tried to charge $2000 in FL, and it was caught and put on hold until I verified it, and it WAS NOT shown on my online statement yet. It was a computer generated voice, so I would suggest you call SunTrust directly anytime you get something like this just to be sure...

- SunTrust Customer of 42 years replies to Gene K.| 1 replySun Trust Bank is based out of Atlanta, GA, is one of America's most-highly rated banks, they are also the guardians of the original recipe for Coca Cola. The fact that YOU have never heard of them is an irrelevant testament to your personal ignorance. The number is one used to call people and apprise them of abnormalities on their ATM cards, etc. If they can tell you where your questionable transaction occurred, then it must be an incredibly good "scam".
Regarding the calls you get, I don't suppose the previous owner of your phone number could have been a Sun Trust customer... that would be impossible, since you've never heard of Sun Trust. - So replies to SunTrust Customer of 42 yearsexactly why are you here? Why did you look up this number? You claim you know who called you. You are replying to a 3 year old post. If the person says they never heard of Suntrust why are you disputing that statement? I have never heard of them either. I have no debit card with them. As to them telling where any transaction occurred, they can simply make that up since no one seems to have a card with them. Looks like you must be one of the scammers making these calls.
- Kent replies to tideThis is Sun Trust it is their fraud prevention section at first I was concerned and checked with my local branch they assured that it was their security department and that it was computerized. Someone was trying to charge 2k to my card and my wife's card each both fraudulently what a great catch. If you get a call from them respond they are trying to protect you also your card has probably been cancelled that is what they did to ours thankfully
