Suspected scam claiming to represent a law office and offering to "help" avoid being prosecuted for "stealing internet porn movies" and to avoid having hame listed as part of law suit and published, etc. States $135000 fine and if you don't work with us you will have to hire a "lawyer" (not attorney as anyone associated with a law office would say.) My internet provider assured me they had not been notified of any infringement and did not give out my name, address, or phone # and would not have given phone number in any case as EVERYTHING is done in writing if it is legitimate. And internet provider would have notified me in writing immediately if they had been served with a subpoena to provide any information. But they did have even my correct IP address. When told to put the complaint in writing so I could turn it over to my local prosecutor, they finally stopped calling, but called several times a day for several days.

same thing happened to me. two weeks ago got a call from a "Robert Bryce" saying that my IP had been tracked downloading an adult film and the company wanted to sue me. he mentioned they wanted to settle out of court for $5000 and that they wanted the money as soon as possible. absolutely ruined my weekend. he called back Monday explaining how he wanted me to send $4000 (note the number change) to this law firm in Florida. as far as I know, he does not have my address. I will be changing my number and email address in order to avoid this guy in the future. there were RED FLAGS all over this thing. I hope this helps anyone else getting scammed by this scumbag!

Same exact same thing happened to me.  It's just so shocking when he first calls you, that it is pretty scary.  But once you look at it rationally, there are so many red flags that it is undoubtedly a scam.  This is always handled in writing and not with these over-the-phone high-pressure intimidation tactics.  Thanks for posting your own experiences.

This is a "Subpoena Processing Center" and he is the front guy for trying to squeeze as much money as they can out of alledged "violators" of copyrighted materials.  Some "forensics" team is supposedly watching bit torrent downloads and harvesting the IP's of receivers. Then, they give them to Bryce who uses a combination of fire and ice to threaten, "help", and squeeze for money.  No reputable film company would do it this way, so pretty much he fronts for sleezy porn companies, most of whom probably are offering the stuff on the torrents just to catch people.  He admitted they make way more money on this stuff than on the actual films.  Tell him to pound sand. He'll be very convincing - he does this for a living - and can scare the crap out of you, but in the end, it's all just a bunch of hot wind from some bottom-feeding lawyers and porn companies.  Don't download porn, don't download anything copyrighted, and if one of your friends or families does, tell them to stop it and then tell Bryce to get a real job.
