Guy claimed to be Microsoft support.  " All I have to do is enter a code and my computer  ( which he claimed was hacked)   would be fixed".  Only he is not Microsoft--  it is Ransomware.    If you enter the code you will be totally locked up and it takes a real geek to get your computer back.   Viscious viscous malware--  ransomware.   Do not believe these people!

My moms laptop had a white screen with a Microsoft symbol and a phone number in the lower right hand corner. Called the number and guy tells me the computer is hacked and being used for illegal activity. Tells me to type in a url and takes me to a screen that looks like it is running a search then a profile with a bald man and his info pops up (looks like something from Mission Impossible) and he declares this is this criminal using the laptop for criminal activity. Tells me I need a firewall and he can install one, but how long do I need service: 1, 3, or 5 years with packages costing $280-$500. At this point I hang up and am taking it to a local computer repair store.
