This is from an inmate in jail that is calling you.  The initial call has to be made by them.  Then they get one free minute to tell you who they are and how to add minutes onto a prepaid system for your number only.  Sad thing is...the intial account has to be set up by the owner of the phone.  They refuse to change it later or work with people to get account information changed.  And the government gets a cut of the outrageous cost.  5.99 to make the transaction.  The first $3 of the call is a connect charge.

I know someone in the Hernando County Jail in Spring Hill, Florida. It appeared someone from the jail was trying to get through to me (not the person I know) and suddenly there was a "click" and a woman's voice came on asking is I would be interested in Inmate Calling Solutions. Our local phone, net, TV provider, Bright House; does not allow collect calls, but the jail can work out something with them that will allow collect calls from the jail. I thought this was true when I was talking to the woman from I.C.Solutions and when I asked her about that she told me she was not permitted to answer that question. That was my 1st indication something was wrong. While I was on the phone with her pretending to look for a credit card, my wife quickly found you guys on the net and came running back to me shaking her head..."no!" The woman had hung up about that time, it appears they are afraid to stay on the phone too long and simply hang up many times. The woman told me she was in Montana, the mother company was in San Antonio, TX. In fact there does appear to be a legit co. based in San Jose, CA, and in Santa Anna, California it seems the same (ligit?) company works out something with their local jail. Looks like like someone has grabbed their number somehow...that's all I can figure out. Why would people hang up suddenly in the middle of a conversation if they were not afraid to stay on the line too long for some reason (tracing calls somehow)?  Woody

Started on 10/28/10 random calls from this number on my LAN line day & NIGHT.  Some inmate from the LA County Parker Center is trying to call my number.  I filed a complaint with www.icsolutions.com the 888-506-8407 is listed on their website.

I dont believe this number to be a scam. It is a ligit number, people who are incarcerated are trying to contact you or have simply mis dialed the number from jail or prison because they can't remember there loved ones or freinds phone number. You will only be billed if you heve set up this number on your phone line. So dont be so judge mental when people get arrested its usually unexpected and its not like there carring a phone book with all the important numbers they need.If they have a cell phone the cops take it away immediatley, so when people get locked up they dont remember numbers.They're simply just trying to get a hold of someone.

This is true, my boyfriend called me from the fairfax county detention center first we got to talk for 3 minutes on the courtesy time and then at the end you get the option of setting up an account with the inmate solutions and he can call me any time and he does but it can be expensive if you talk every day for a long time

I just tried to call the number 888-506-8407, which is also the number that showed up on caller ID. It was disconnected. My guess is its a hoax. Most companies I know will have something that you can block the number with, including cell phones. I suggest you do that. I don't know anyone in jail and the caller says her name but I cant make it out. I'm just going to block it so I dont recieve any more calls.

I had received a call this afternoon but missed the call from this number>>888) 506-8407 I'm thinking it can be my friend from chino state prison could that be possible ? I had called back and spoke to a customer service agent and she told me a inmate was trying to call and she asked do u know where is he located i said chino state prison and she said they don't have chino state prison on their listing . I don't know anything at this point.  I just want to know if hes trying to call me ?

California state prison calls come in through global tel link. If it is your cell phone then you would need to setup a pre-paid account. So the call would not have been through your friend, hope that helps.

If you have recieved calls from this number it is legitimate.  My brother is serving time, and yes the first 3 minutes is free, after that you are able to set up an account to put money on the calls so that you can receive calls, including calls on your cell phone.  It is very helpful and less expensive than calling collect to your home number.  I hope this helps.

THIS IS A FAX MACHINE NUMBER. It was given to me by a fake debt collector that called for a fake debt. (I get these often since I signed up and paid in full for a subscription from a door to door solicitor.) When they call I ask for the physical address and phone number of the company that they are calling from and the most resent person that called gave me this number, which I called immediately after hanging up with the woman and I got a fax machine. This is a solicitation, and it very much so does fall under the NDNCR (National Do Not Call Registry) and guidelines, so file a complaint and file as often as they call. This will launch an investigation by the FCC into the number, or at very least they will be fined $5,000 for each call that they made to a number registered on the NDNCR.

EVERYONE THAT HAS RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER THAT IS REGISTERED ON THE NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY (NDNCR) SHOULD FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST THIS NUMBER. IT IS NOT ANYONE FROM JAIL TRYING TO CALL, IT IS THE FAX NUMBER THAT THE SOLICITORS ARE CALLING YOU FROM. THEY DO THIS SO YOU CANNOT CALL THEM BACK!!

This number is from an inmate in jail. You need to answer the phone and press the number 9 to have them stop calling your number. I called the 888 number and the lady said it is quicker to answer the call and press 9. They can stop it, however it takes 35 days. I hope this helps. Kathy in Vegas

This # just called me twice in a row, I did not answer either time, and I do not know anyone in jail

Just called the 888 number for Inmate Calling
Services because I'm getting unwanted calls to my work number.  They wouldn't or couldn't block my number and said I should press 9 when receiving the call to block my number.  Sounds like crap.
