Received calls from this number, leaving voice mails that I am being audited by IRS for fraud.  I did not return the call, but believe it to be a scam.  Someone else share a youtube experience of her call with them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMFOw5odZE8

I received a phone call again stating they are from the IRS.  Three times.  Handed me off to "supervisor" to continue the ruse.  Wanted my lawyers name and phone number.  My surname was spelled identical to a misspelling on one of the junk mail distribution lists I am on.  The "supervisor" hung up on me but not before he called me a "b*tch."

Here is what I did today when I got the call (short version).  I submitted this narrative to the FTC tonight.
    -------------------
    This is a short version.
Some people had been trying to contact my husband for about a week now without any success (told them he was out and they said they would call back).  Today a man claiming to be from the IRS  advised us that there was a case pending against us (Case # JR 594833C3, ID#95331) for underpaying our taxes from 2008-2012 in the amount of $2498.   I knew that he was a scammer but I played along because I wanted to get more info to report to authorities in the hope that other people do not get scammed too.  He itemized for me a list of the IRS charges against us under Section 6331H and the penalties we would incur if we do not respond within 45 minutes.  Believing that I was going to fall for his trick, he told me that if I was going to “resolve” the case which I said I was willing to, I had to meet 3 conditions:  (1) stay on the phone (must be a cell phone) (2)  I can’t put him on hold (3) I am allowed to put the speaker on.  I tried to get him to give me a phone or address where I can send the “check,” but he refused to give it.  He told me that what I have to do is to go to a bank, withdraw the money and go to a Home Depot to get an “electronic voucher.”  I tried to buy time and called the Fraud Hotline, who referred me to you, and also called our phone provider.  I made him stay on the phone for about 1 1/2 hours while I was giving him all sorts of excuses to give me more time.  He was willing to stay on the phone for as long as I needed to finish my household chores before leaving for the bank.   Finally, I decided to disconnect our call pretending that the call dropped.  When his “supervisor” called back, he gave me a number to call in case we get disconnected again.  I made him stay on the phone for another half hour before disconnecting him again -  I hope he spent a lot for this call unless he also stole the SIM card!  The phone he gave was 1-888-508-0038 which was also the number that appeared on the caller ID.  Our phone provider was apprised of this number and they have put a trace call on it if he calls again. (I also called Home Depot and they said they do not have such a program, i.e., electronic vouchers,  so I assumed this was a local scam where a person is asked to withdraw money and then go to a certain place (Home Depot) where the victim will be asked to hand the money.

My husband got a phone call from same number 1-888-0038. The guy with the indian accent was asking for me, claiming he to be an IRS agent and that I had to appear in court with my lawyer, Fortunately I was not home otherwise I would have freaked out.  He left the above call back number.

These guys are scam artists claiming to be from IRS. If anyone knows how to report them to the IRS fraud department, they should do so as soon as possible.

Yes, I too received 2 "IRS" calls from someone named MARK ROBINSON with an extremely thick Indian accent (Friday and today Monday, May 19, 2014).

The "IRS agent" both times (from his script) mentions a PETITION NOTICE against my name and ARREST.  Lots of BACKGROUND sounds in the obvious call center.  I had to replay the message 2 times to get the name, which at first I thought (with the accent) was Marco Vincent, but after listening a total of 5x to attempt to get the name of the "IRS dept" Mark Robinson worked at so I could report it, I gave up.

When I BING'd the "toll free #" he left I found MANY references to it and tons of similar stories about the scam.

I fear that there may be a few unfortunate people who would be tricked by scammers, this might be a problem if you might perceive it's a THREATS OF ARREST, from the "all powerful" gov't agency, the "IRS"

I received three calls from this Indian guy and knew right away that the IRS does not call people to ask for money, it sends it through mail.

Yep.  Me too.  Very persistant caller.  I got 4 calls.  Same person claiming to be from IRS.  Hard to understand but I heard a threat of being arrested.  I understood him to say his name it Robert Anderson.  Not the right name if he is ancestors are from India unless he legally changed his name.

I got the same call from same number.  Brian Owens from IRS with thick Indian accent.  Lots of noise in back ground. Could barely understand what he was saying through his thick accent.
