Got a call from this number. Man with thick Indian accent asked to speak with hubby. I quizzed him about details on the "matter" but he would only speak to whoever he called. I asked him from which office he was calling, he replied "IRS, internal revenue service". I then asked, OK, but they have several offices, which one are you calling from. to this he replied "Washington DC". Refused to give me a case number citing that he was not "authorized"  to do so. yeah. If the real IRS wants to get a hold of me.. they will. But not talking to these scammers. Kept him online for a while longer to hear the background and I heard a bunch of voices with think Indian accents. Unless the IRS has outsourced this service to India, I am not calling back.

My father got a call in Charlotte, NC and they said they were from the IRS and had a lien on their house.  They kept him on the line and wouldn't let him talk to his sons or wife and basically used a lot of scare tactics on him.  We must have called my father like 50 times and he would not pick up cause they wouldn't let him off the phone.  He basically went to the bank and filled these MoneyPak cards and then gave these people the numbers.  My brother was able to contact a bank teller while he was taking out money, to convince him to stop from paying more. All in all, they lost 11k to some terrible people.  There isn't any way to get it back as we know of yet.  This all happening this morning over the last 5 hrs.  Its really sad to see these kinds of things, my father feels terrible for being duped and taken advantage of, so horrible.

Basically, tell your folks and yourself, don't pick up phone calls from 888, 866, 800, if it is that important they will leave a message.

Hey pilgrim! The Oregon trail is paved now. No need to wait for the Government to act. Pull up your boots, & get a call blocking app for cell phone, blocking device for landline. I suppose we could start a war with every country in the world. While we're waiting for you to get off the couch, first step, put down the bowl of Cheese Doodles.

I kept on calling them on that # they kept on hanging up on me.... after about 10 times he picks up the phone as "Internal Services" after about few back and forth with him he confidently says I've been doing this with thousands of people and nobody has "balls" to catch me and he recognizes me that I'm from India then he starts talking [***] about India after talking crap about Americans... so I asked him where is he from here's the surprise.... he says Pakistan!!

I got two calls today from the same number and the guy said that his name is Dennis Anderson. He said there is discrepancy in my taxes and if I did not call them back at 1-888-508-0432, otherwise i will arrested and prosecuted. I got so many calls from these fake IRS people, since Jan, 2014. These numbers are 585-283-8485, 585-444-6226, 209-320-1388 and some numbers even from ontario, canada and some other with area code 408. I am just tired of this and I don't know why the government is not doing enough to track down these people. Every time i tried to call IRS office in washington, at that time the office is closed.

    Will_not be fooled
These people are HUGE scam. They have been calling from various different phone numbers (different area codes). First they asked for me. Then from a different number asked for my husband. Now every time we get a call. We've passed on the number to all go our friends. We all call them back on that number back to back and start harassing them by cursing at them. They stop.

But they are sooooooo dum and stupid that they haven't kept track of our names and always end up calling and hearing all cuss words from us.

Do not be fooled by them. IRS does not work this way. They will send you written notice. They do not talk like this. I have my folks with me and have already warned them about this and have told them not to answer any calls unless the caller ID has a name & number they know or if the number is private then only pick up if the person leaving voice message sounds like family.

I just got the same call from an Indian man using a different number. 1-888-508-0213. Scary part, he had my address. I knew from the start it was a scam. I let him go through part of his BS, then I stopped him, gave him a piece of my mind , then told him where to go . I have Uverse TV so my TV keeps a record of incoming calls. I used my cell and called them back. I asked to speak to a supervisor , same Indian man, said he was one. I told him supervisors don't answer the phone. I then asked, if he were in Washington D.C, let me speak to an American. He told me no Americans work there because they didn't want us knowing it was the IRS HAHAHAHAHA! I got this guy so flustered, he started banging his phone on a desk and hung up on me. He was going to have me arrested in 45 minutes and have me deported back to my country, American born and raised here. Oh, and not to mention, take my license. Idiots! Some people do fall for this sad to say, especially the elderly. Stay vigilant and tell your elders about these scams. I had fun giving this guy grief, I might just do it again. This time I will demand my money lol

My mom has been receiving calls like these for a couple of days now.  Luckily we are both smart enough to know a few things about the IRS.  First, the IRS will NEVER leave personal information regarding monies owed, what kind of issue you may have with them or threaten you with being arrested on your voicemail.  That is all illegal. Second, the IRS likes to have a paper trail and likes to rack up interest, so they will send many notices before ever attempting to arrest you.  NEVER EVER send money based on someone's word over the phone without some sort of legal document backing it up.  Personally with all the ways lately people have found to scam other people over the cell phone, if its an unknown number, I do not answer it.  If its important, they will leave a message, like these idiots keep doing, and I can decide if it warrants a return call.
