Called and left a message stating it was an attempt to contact a person who had the same last name, but an unknown first name.  The message said that if i had any information about that person I should call them.  Well, I don't know that person.

Caller said was Investigators to what I do not know

Called looking for someone, called them a defendant with a case #. No mention of a company.

When I answered the phone an automated voice message stated that they were looking for information for someone with the same last name as mine, the first name was I was unable to understand.  When a person picked up they asked for a contact number from the message.  I stated that it gave no number just a name of which I could not make out the first name.  They asked again for a number and I stated that none was given they just hung up.  Very rude.  When I called back I got a person who answered "Investigations".  Stated who I was and why I called.  Informed me they were looking for someone else.

Caller stated that I had a debt. with a loan of  98.00 dollarsback in January 2003.And didnt want to settled for anything less than 878.00 or they were taking me to court for 18,000 dollar law suite

Called looking for person with same last name. Yea they said they were investigations and they didn't get a call back in 1 hour someone would be there to arrest the person they looking for. The Federal Trade Commission would love to hear this complaint.

Called my sister and my brother looking for ME. Automated voice message asking if they knew MY whereabouts and if they did to call their "offices." The voice message asked if they knew the whereabouts of the "defendant Sarah ***** " I would have called them back but they didn't even leave their business/company name.

Is it a little strange that all the previous complaints including my own about this number are from only a week back? Is it a new number or a hoax or what?

Most likely scammers - calling people and asking for a person of the same last name, but different first name - telling anyone who picks up that they're looking for the "defendent" - all signs of a scam attempt.

Is it worth calling them back? They left a phone number and a case number for me to call them back with. I would call them just to see what it's all about.

Nope.  If you really had a "case" against you - civil or otherwise - you'd have been "served" a court summons via process server (or arrested if you'd committed a crime).  You wouldn't hear about it first via phone call.  More info on this type of scam here:

Follow the steps in what you need to know. A legitimate debt collector agency should not have a problem with giving you a real business name and address you can google and verify via google street view, BBB etc.

Sounds like a scam to me.   Tell them they have to send you a written statement of the debt and it has to be sent by US Mail.  They don't do this then,  you just ignore them.

YES, they are scammers.  They called me Friday and I was silly enough to give them money.  I harass them all day, like they do other people and filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.  Don't give them any money, and hopefully I can get my money back.

I called them repeatedly and they hung up on me when I asked for the name of there company and there address or a fax number

I called them repeatedly too and they changed their name, now they're a law firm!  They going to get what they deserve.

i got the same call they say they were investigators looking for me. i really don't think investigatorss would call you first. something about  me committing 3 counts of bank fraud. and i needed to clear this matter up before  they issue an arrest warrant for me. they say they are out of atlanta.ga.

I received a call from this number, as well as my sister, saying that I was a defendent and they gave a case number. I know well enough that if there is a case against me or I have done something, I will be served a summons, the sheriff would come arrest me for whatever the case is for. Should I call them back? I have feeling it's a scam.
