They're scammers.  Don't let them worry you.  Debt is civil, not criminal, so no one is going to be arrested - even if they have defaulted on a loan.  And per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to mail - do not accept email or fax - proof of debt and proof your caller has the legal right to collect said debt.  Refusal to mail this documentation within five days of their first call is a violation of federal law.  Again - no written, verifiable proof of debt/proof they can collect, then, per federal law - the FDCPA - they can go pound sand!  Please do report them to the FTC, FBI and your state's Attorney General.

Now I spoke to another gentleman... The phone "magically" disconnedted again.. I called the # back and spoke with a person named Ryan Taylor. I heard the nasty woman I'd spoken to earlier in the backround, but he wouldn't let me speak to her. He calmly asked me to hold on... when he came back, he said he would try to get a "case dismissal for $125.00" but I had to pay it NOW. I tried to tell him (and those b4 him) that I HAVE no funds and I'm unempl since 2012 and no unemployment...blah blah..... How can a threat go from "you are refusing to pay, ok then we will submit it for a warrant....." to "We will take a pmt of $125 to dismiss it" This HAS to be BS!!! I asked him to call me back tomorrow so I could get more info. How should I tell them to "go fly a kite" when they call back or should I just NOT answer the phone and write a letter to turn them in?

Same here! When I began to get upset and ask questions, then TRY to tell them that some of the info they had was incorrect, the phone mysteriously disconnected TWICE!! I called back 4 times and spoke to 4 different people! I even heard the last nasty woman (who hung up) speaking and I asked to speak to her (several times) but I was not put thru to her.. It does seem after my last conversation that this is a scam indeed! When this "Ryan Taylor" does call back tomorrow (I stalled him by saying I would try to borrow the $$), I will tell him I couldn't raise the funds and do what he wishes or has to do!! Good luck everyone!!! I'm sick to my stomach now!!

Be aware that REAL process servers do NOT call you and give you a heads up.  Neither will they tell you to call some number - all they are paid to do is serve court papers.  Per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to mail - do not accept email or fax - proof of debt and proof your caller has the legal right to collect said debt.  Refusal to mail this documentation within five days is a violation of federal law.  In other words, no written, verifiable proof of debt/proof they can collect, then per the FDCPA, they can go pound sand!

Same here Nancy! I got hung up on twice but I called them back 4 times and spoke to several different people. Even heard the lady's voice in the back round! I'm supposed to get a call back from the last "investigator" tomorrow...don't know if " I'll conveniently be home to answer it"! I hate companies like this that make you cry and make threats! Something needs to be done!!

Yes, the behavior of these criminals are truly reprehensible.  By any chance in any of your "interactions" with them, did they ever provide you with an address (even if it was a po box)?

It is not uncommon for outright fraudulent debt collectors to use drop boxes and rental offices (which forward mail to another state) to disguise their true location so please be skeptical of any alleged location they use

no, I wasn't given an "address" when I asked, but I had to ask her to spell the company's name several times! The accent was either very southern or mumbled so it wasn't clear enough to research. They did however, call me back the next morning..at first I ignored the call, but by the 3d time, I answered "politely" and then gave them the FBI's fraud # for them to call! I haven't heard from them since!!!

I thought I was the only one who got yelled at & names called! I told her she was being rude and I was going to hang up on her. She DEMANDED that I stay on the line so she could "three-way" me with a police officer. I told her to bring it on, but told her to hang a minute so I could get ,y lawyer on the line too! She stuttered and  conveniently the line disconnected! I did report them to several diff ph#'s including the FBI, BBB, the local fraud line.... Haven't heard back again....so far... but IF they do happen to call, I'll get as many ph#'s so I can post them to this chat and we, as the so called "fraud criminals", can constantly dial those numbers to hound & make them feel the burn on this end!! Good luck everyone! Maybe dig up a phone # to a "talk dirty to me" phone number and let them enjoy THAT conversation!!! haha
