Did anything else happened after this letter? I got one today and I listed an employer I never had but named people I knew, so that scared me a bit.
So I’ll just wait to see what happens.

That letter should have contained information on how you could dispute the debt.  If it did you should be sending them a debt validation letter immediately by certified return receipt mail.  If it didn't then you know this is a scam.

I got the letter in Feb, and still nothing. I ran it by my attorney and he stated it's a scam.

My letter didn't contain any mention of how to dispute it. Just a bunch of threats saying that they will forward the info to law enforcement because a check bounced for a pay day loan, claiming 'fraud'.  Letter stated I had to pay by Feb 25th or legal action will commence, well It's been over 2 months since the letter and nothing. It's a scam.

What is the address on that letter?  Where was it mailed from.  Checks to payday loans are considered promissory notes and you cannot legally be charged with bouncing a check to them.  They know the check is no good when they accept it.  Fraud is a criminal matter and would be handled by the District Attorney and not some scummy debt collector.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
