Received call today saying they are trying to reach me to settle pending  legal matter and to serve my home or place of work with paperwork on me.  Friday 6/29 they called from 866-936-4191 with the same message.  Both times, they left no name for their company.  Believe these are related to a call months ago from a man trying to get $430 or so dollars out of me for borrowing money under someone elses name.  Don't know anything about this, and they have the wrong person.  Sounds like a scam.

Its a scam, They called me and I answered all their questions but asked specifics like where they were locate, her title, and a few others, and then about 10 minutes in I stopped her and told her she forgot to say this information is being used in order to collect a debt. Its the law to say that up front and she got flustered and hung up on me! I forget the name of the bull crap company she used, but i must say they are getting more clever, be very careful if you ever pay on one!

I got a call from (000)000-0000 and a voice recording from eric James said they have legal papers they want to serve me and to call (888)524-4171 if I have any questions.  When I callled that number the call went directly to music like i was on hold so i waited then a recording came on and said to leave a voice mail.   They never once mentioned what company they were.   WTH?? And how in the world does someone call from a number (000)000-0000.... if it is a collection agency or lawyer is it legal to disquise their number so I wont know who is calling??   WTF

Eric James left a message on Thurs at 4:55 p.m. saying he has paperwork to serve me with at either my home or place of work regarding a legal matter (for a debt, which again, I know nothing about).  He left a return number of 888-524-4171, but of course no name was given for the company.   Previous calls  from a lady on 6/29 and 7/2 regarding the same subject, but they used the #'s 866-936-4191 and 888-524-4171.  Messages sound like tape recordings being left on my answering machine. Haven't called back on any of them - sounds like a full blown scam.

    This
This is FRAUD!!  They leave personal info, messages as references above and they DO NOT adhere to Fair Debt and Collection Act as required by law.  They have stolen a payday loan company's info and try to get you to settle by using any means possible.  Your loan most likely was paid off.  They ONLY want your debit card info and they will drain your back account.  The Attorneys General of the US can do nothing about them, nor can local law enforcement as these people are most likely in India and outside US jurisdiction.  Unfortunately it is very annoying.  I tend to ignore them and they go away for a while.  I do not answer any number I don't know any more.  If they leave a number, I just delet the message.  They will not give the "correct details" of your "loan."  They just say they are not obligated to do this as its "gone too far."  I challenged them to come to my work, or my residence and said that I would love to see them in court!!!  They hang up and don't call back for weeks or months.  Unfortunately they are an annoyance!!

I just got a call yesterday from Eric James ( a recording) and called the number that he left me on the  1-888-524-4171 to resove the "matter" and Spoke to a lady by the name Mrs. Robertson..she pretty much threatened me to summons me, told me that if she processes the summon that they would come over to arrest me, and that it was a criminal offense that the bill was unpaid...That I recall, this debt was paid long ago.  I was just found disabled due to Multiple Sclerosis...and if anyone knows how this disease attacks people, is it pretty much destroys their neurological system.  A type of stressor like this can trigger a relapse.  This lady made me so nervous that I almost went to the hospital!!!  My heart rate is out of whack, and I am dizzy.  I called the FTC and they warned me that a lot of this online scam is going on right now....not to give them any credit card information, and to ask for a LETTER OF VALIDATION BY MAIL.  To not accept anything by email....I hope this information will help others out there...I almost gave her my credit card info.  Goodnight to all, while my pulse is still racing from this nightmare, I will try to get some sleep tonight.!

I hope everything works out for you! I know MS is a difficult thing to live with.
I've been getting calls, but they aren't even for me, they're for someone else. I think I might take legal action because this is just ridiculous.

I had seven messages left on my cell phone from a "Eric James" stating something about a summons.  The calls started on July 10 and the last one was on July 24th.  I have not returned any of these calls and I will not based on the stories shared on this web site.  Thanks everyone for posting your story as this helps others.

Thank you for posting the news link on this ring of scammers.  I did not know it was aired on tv news  I've been getting numerous calls and believe someone must have borrrowed money in my name and perhaps that is how they got my number.  I have never borrowed from any payday loan or loan company. Ive been told i borrowed  money under someone elses name, which i didn't do.  My thoughts are if i borrowed under someone elses name, how did the collection agency get my name.  None of i t makes sense, but all i know is i didnt borrow anything and i am not paying them anything.  Believe they are a huge scam just like the report says.

Why do you assume i borrowed from a payday loan or loan company?  I never borrowed from a payday loan or loan company in my life.  I think someone borrowed under my name because if i borrowed under someone elses name how would they have my name?  How do you accuse someone of something when there is no proof.  I see from other postings  these creeps  are real scammers
