I was concerned about the call as well but they gave me the information on my package including last 4 digit of tracking number and the shipper and it was exactly the package I was expecting. When I checked the package on fedex.com it showed as undeliverable. They corrected my address and i received the package next day.

    Nice story.
Amazing how you were able to get that status information with just the last 4 digits of the tracking number.

A search for this phone number does not turn up any actual connection to FedEx.  However, it does return links to a good number of reports that indicate that this number is being used to impersonate FedEx customer service.
As an example of what I was able to find with a brief search, following are a few of the reports made to the BBB (along with links to the actual pages on the BBB website)(Emphasis added):

    Quote:
I received two phone calls from someone purporting to be calling on behalf of FedEx regarding an undelivered package. The voicemail said FedEx attempted to deliver a package to me but "could not locate the address." They asked me to call back and provide a reference number so that they could re-attempt delivery. I am not expecting a FedEx package nor have I ever had issues with a delivery company not being able to find my address, so I found the call suspicious. The six-digit "reference number" provided does not return any results on FedEx's website.

Called from 888-535-7661 claiming FedEx couldn’t deliver a package that was supposed to be delivered today (so they have FedEx shipping and tracking information). They said my name(spelling) and my address. I asked how to check on the status and they gave me a fed ex number. As I pulled in to driveway, the package was already delivered and I didn’t confirm any information they were asking for.

I received call from 1-888 # so i declined it. They called right back so i sent to voicemail. Message stated "Hello, we're calling on behalf of FedEx. We attempted to deliver a package today for (my first name but spelled wrong) again. However, our driver was unable to locate the address. Please call us by 10PM local time so we can reattempt delivery on the next business day. Call us at 888-535-7661 and provide reference # 560437. (repeated last sentence). Thank you and have a great day." I called it back and there was auto message stating it Thank you for calling FedEx and to press 1 for English, 2 for Spanish. Selected 1 & very legit sounding auto message basically state to wait for next available rep. Waited only a few seconds then lady w/ heavy middle eastern/Indian accent answered. She asked me to confirm my name & quickly pulled up info stating an address in state but no where near my city. I gave the correct address only once and said it fast (normally have to repeat myself on these calls) and she stated all corrected and it will be delivered. I am expecting a couple of packages but usually they aren't shipped through FedEx. I didn't think about this till after the fact which is why i searched the reference # on FedEx and it didn't pull up. So i searched the # they called from and found another person had same experience. They didn't ask for any money and considering they have my phone # that is all you need to search details on internet and find my address so very confused about what they are planning but still concerned enough to want to share. Will update if any further activity occures.

Left voicemail saying FedEx package was unable to be delivered due to incorrect address. I confirmed the address and they said it would be delivered the next day, I asked how they would deliver it since it was the same address they claimed was "incorrect" and I asked that a note be put on the delivery and was told they "could not do that." I was expecting a delivery, so I wasn't completely suspicious but when they could not articulate how it would be rectified, I knew something was up and Googled the phone number, which brought me here.

Middle Eastern man using an actual middle eastern man's name from FedEx. Parul is the name. I called 800-463-3339 to verify the scam call and coincidentally enough another man named Parul answered the phone. He was helpful and friendly and we couldnt get very far because I did not have the tracking information. What's concerning about this entire thing starts from the beginning. I received a call from the 888-535-7661 number telling me that FedEx could not deliver a package. The man gave me the sender, whom IS one of my customers. He gave me my WORK address, which is where I was expecting the package to be delivered. He gave me the package contents, even. The problem is my client did not give me the tracking number yet, so I could not verify. He would not give me the tracking number, saying it was for security purposes. He would not give me his employee ID, for security purposes. I verified the address, but doubled back when I called him back the next day (today). I said the zip code was wrong. When you call that number, it gives you a FedEx prompt, asking to stay on the line, etc. He answers, saying it's a recorded call, his name is Parul, and he saw that I spoke to someone to verify the address previously. But it was him. I spoke to HIM. And he just kept playing it off like it was another associate. I did not give him any other personal information but I did confront him about how he got my personal phone number from a work account. He gave me vague answers and kept repeating "for security purposes, I can't give you this information" and I asked for his supervisor. He gave me FedEx's actual number. That's when I called and the REAL Parul answered. I believe this man is fishing for information. This is my first scam call, so I have to say he did a good job, but I'm frustrated.

I had an email confirmation from the shipper with the tracking id. They gave me the last 4 digits and I obviously had the remaining ones so I looked up my package which showed as undeliverable address. I received my package after the correction.

Received call to an old landline we do not use, but leave active at a second home (it has an answering machine). The call back was 888 535 7661 and claimed to be Fed Ex, but said it had a package that could not be delivered due to incorrect address and asked for a call back and gave a reference number. The "name" on the alleged undeliverable package was from someone who lived at the house many years ago and we weren't expecting any packages to be delivered to this old residence, so definitely a scam.

Seems to be a lot of disagreement regarding this number.  I believe the site that "Parker" was trying to post is this one but note:  If I click the link I get the "bad gateway 502 error of which MikeHuntleton posted.  However, if I copy and paste the link into my URL bar it does, indeed, take me to a site which appears to be a BBB Linked page.  Give it a try.

Call back to the number gets, "Hi, you have reached the FedEx Address Correction Team.  Our hours are 10am to 1am Eastern Standard Time.  Please call back during regular business hours and we'll be happy to help you."  I was calling at 1:15am so I will try again later in the day to see if I can get to the bottom of this.

Update:  Please read and pay attention.  This number does, in fact, reach the Address Correction Team for FedEx.  According to customer service as accessed via 1-800-463-3339 (This is the published number on the website; translates to 1-800-GOFedEx) this is an outsourced direct line for the sole purpose of address correction.  The rep at customer service told me that you can also call the 1-800 number and tell them you received a call from the Address Correction Team and customer service can confirm it.  He also said that they will transfer you to the Address Correction Team if there is an issue with an address.  That said, any number can be spoofed so initiate the call yourself and confirm with customer support if you are suspicious of the call but Do Not Ignore the call.  I also asked why someone not expecting a package might get such a call?  He said, could be a mistake, could be an unexpected package.  He also said that if you sign up and create and account, any questions associated with the address, phone number or email that you indicate for communication on your account will be available there.  So you can confirm there as well.

3pm received a call ‘on behalf of Fedex’ stating that a parcel was undeliverable and I should call 1-888-535-7661 and give them a reference number before 1 am.   When I got home my parcel had been delivered at 9 am.

Called once, and went through the "calling on behalf of FEDEX" routine and asking if I was [name] before I hung up on him. I have no FEDEX shipments in the works.

Called back immediately and I asked who he was and who he worked for. He paused. Then I told him I wasn't going to play his scam game and hung up a second time.

    Normally, I don't even answer

Received two calls from this number, but I was unavailable so they went to voicemail. One voicemail was left with a robotic sounding voice saying they were calling "on behalf of" and then said a name I didn't catch, and that a driver was unable to find my address to deliver a package. I didn't notice the voicemail until several days later, as I am still adjusting to a new phone, but any expected packages have already arrived. My phone's system did flag calls from this number as being "Scam Likely," and paired with what other people have said, I believe this was probably a scam call.

    Yeah Right
Robocall voice mail message from 888-535-7661 that a FedEx package could not be delivered because the driver could not find the address.

    1.  Our address is very CLEARLY marked on a very MAIN road.
    2.  There is no one by the name given as the package recipient, at this address.
    3.  No one at this address is expecting any package delivery from anyone.
    4.  The number that received the robocall message is not a number that we would ever, for any reason, use as a package delivery contact number.
    5.  Within less than two minutes, the exact same robocall message was made to the phone number.
    WEIRD.
