Called and did not leave Message

This is either from a scumbag teltmarketing company or from Discover. These slimeballs called my business phone at 7:30 on a Friday night and then again on a Saturday night. Tried calling the number back and guess what! THEIR business are M-F 8:30-5:30

This is likely related to a collection attempt. Be wary. I received a similar call and did call them back.
Call was answered "Discover" and the agent immediately discussed providing a new Discover card but required a verbal personal guarentee.

It turns out, this was an attempt to reage an old debt out of SOL.  I received a call from a collection agency regarding an out of SOL Discover debt a day later.

Called Discover directly to inquire about this number and received an operator that seem to not really care or be capable of verifying any connection to Discover based on the 888-577-5976. They responded that they have approximately eight marketing firms that actively market the business card but could not identify them by the number.  She noted she would need the name of the marketing company even though the people at 888-577-5976 claim to be "Discover" and the answering service off hours claims to be "Discover Business Card".
I'm surprised, in these days of phishing, fraud, and identity theft, that Discover takes such a lack view, is incapable of verifying, or doesn't really seem to care about looking into a firm that claims to be Discover but is not "actually" Discover. The agent only seemed to want to extend a credit offer and completely refused to look into what I was asking.

This number calls our business phone, but does not leave a messege. One time I put them on speaker but didn't say anything. They asked for me by name, but when they got no response they said 'hello?' a couple of times, then hung up. Good ridence...I think I'll do this everytime I get a telemarketer call and maybe they will get tired of wasting their time saying 'hello?' and quit calling. Probably too much to hope for :(

There were two Vietnamese Representatives, a man named Tuan Le and a woman (name not mentioned) called me and speak to me in Vietnamese language that they are working for phone company "Hello". They told me that this is the 12 years anniversary of the company and they are giving me Free Phone Call to anywhere for a year. They asked me to provide them address, birthday, and the 4 digits of social security number. I did provided them the info.  I asked them for phone number in case I need to contact them. They read me this number and extension. They read too fast so I missed one number and could not got back to them (1-800-719-688? ext 141).  

When I try to call back the number on my caller ID, a person from Discover replied and said that this is Discover Card company. I explained to he about the whole thing after I finished telling him. I got a hang up from him.

Please advise to what I would do in this case.

Male caller tried to "send me a Discover Card".

888-577-5976 called my business number. They left voice mail. Were selling a business credit card.

Hue, please keep an eye out for identity theft. The information you've provided may be enough to gain access to your financial resources (such as your bank information).
Also possible, creditors are trying to verify you against a debt.

It is not particularly difficult for someone with access to an ISDN provisioned span to spoof the caller-id and number.

Marketing firm for Discover Business Card (Teleperformance)

They called again. No message and I called back again. They answered Discover Business Card.

I told them I has received a call about 15 minutes ago.

Response. Please give me the phone number you're calling from.

I asked, is this a marketing firm for Discover.

They replied, I can transfer you to a supervisor if you have a complaint.
(finally getting somewhere)

I said, No. I just want to know if this is actually Discover or is this a marketing firm for Discover.

Reply. This is a marketing firm.

I asked. What is the name of your firm.

Response (almost whispering). Teleperformance.

I replied. Sorry, could you repeat that.

I had already told them I was not interested, but they persist on calling anyhow. So, I guess I'll have to track their continuing attempts....

I get at least one call a week from this number.  It is always the same.  I amswer with company name and they naver say a word.  I can sometimes hear tolking in the background.  I repeat my "Hello" a couple times and then hang up.  Today I did as the other person did and put them on speaker and just didn't say anything.  They finally hung up.

I get a callfrom this # to my place of business about once a day.  They do not say anything and just hang up.  I tried to call the number back, but it goes straight to an answering machine that says "Sorry we missed your call. Please leave us a message and we will try to get back to you."  What is this?

When i answer the phone, they hang up in my ear. It has happened numerous times. I *69 to get the number.

These people again?!?!?  After asking them, for the third time, to remove my number from their database; I reported them, for the third time to: donotcall.gov

Called, and hung up. DORKS!

These people call my cell business line at least once a day.  Usually more then once but I always let it go to voice mail and they never leave a message.  It is really getting annoying!

I got my new phone number in Sept 2007 and went on the DO NOT CALL list. Then someone at (888) 577-5976 has been calling me since November 21, 2007 about 3 times a day getting my answering machine. At first a verbal message
was left for a call back to them (my name not mentioned in call). My Caller ID showed the calls belonged to a business called "DISCOVER BUS CARD".

I called the number back on 11-29-2007 and the number answred DISCOVER BUSINESS CARD and wanted my name, address, phone, etc which I refused all but my phone number andgave them a LEGAL NOTICE WARNING to cease calls and informed I was on the DO NOT CALL LIST.

Gal replied they were a collection agency and therefore EXEMPT. I said I never had any DISCOVER credit card so they were calling the wrong person. She claimed something like "that's what they all say" so shortly thereafter I filed an online complaint with the National do Not Call Registry against the company, at:
