receiving calls from this  number on my cell phone. trying to ignore

Received a call today on my cell phone at 10:51am from some woman stating her name is Marguerit and she's from a loan settlement company.  She spoke broken english and I told her not to call my phone anymore because I am NOT interested and on the DNC list. I called the number back and a person answered "Hello". No name or anything.  I'm tired of these scam artists.

Actually, they're not trying to provide you with a loan at all.  This is a debt consolidation company directed at payday loan customers who may have gotten themselves in hot water with too many advances. For an enormous, unaffordable fee, they'll call your lenders and try to negotiate settlements on your payday loans all of which you can do yourself.  

In addition, they charge outrageous fees and most of the loan companies won't work with them anyway. If you don't need them, just hang up and well, even if you do need them, still hang up!!  They are a complete rip off and will just cause you to go further in the hole. Stay far away from these people and any other companies that operate like them. They all work the same way.

We have been receiving a lot of calls lately from unknown numbers like this one along with "out of area" calls.  All the numbers we could look up had something to do with foreigners with thick accents, possibly Indian or Pakistani, who are calling people claiming that they have not repaid their payday loans and that they had to pay up 'or else.'

Obviously they are scammers because we have never had to resort to those loan scams which should be illegal for the outrageous fees and interest they charge desperate people.

We all need to report these scammers immediately to www.donotcall.gov.

Have been receiving calls from this number, but did not answer. . .decided to 'goggle' it and discovered that it was another scam . . .

This number is fraudulent and bogus.A dude must work for them. I have applied for a lot of payday loans, and been scammed. This number kept calling and said they settle payday loans. When I asked how they settle these loans, then the man hung up and no more calls.

Thank you for the information. Been getting up to 6 or 8 calls a day from these jerks.  Then voice mail comes on eithe/r there is no one there or I can't understand them. One guy from across the ocean said either if I or my lawyer did not call back the results would be on me.

Received a missed call from this number and when I called it back a man asked for "Jane".  I told him it was the wrong number and we hung up.  A bit odd for an 888 number to be looking for "Jane".

These people are scam artists, i asked them not to call my number, and they threatened physical violence against myself and my wife.  I am making a police report. This HAS to stop.

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT AND I LIKE WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT, "EVEN IF YOU DO NEED THEM, STILL HANG UP!!!"  

HOWEVER, THEY WILL STILL KEEP CALLING YOU.  THEY HAVEN'T STOPPED CALLING ME YET.
AND I HANG UP ON THEM ALL THE TIME. SWEAR AT THEM, IT DOESN'T MATTER.

As this is an unfamiliar number to me and no message was left on my voicemail I chose to ignore the call. After readin th comments and posts here, I'm glad I did.Thank you for the information left  on this site as it was definitely helpful.

Another thing you can do is contact your phone service provider and find out how to set a blocked number list for your phone. Sprint allows you to have 100 numbers in your blacklist.  For those of you that get calls threatening you with a warrant for your arrest, ask them to send you the documents by certified mail and then report them to you local FBI office and report an email/phone scam.

Calling 3-4x day. No messages left.

Every 5 minutes all different #'s are calling here.I have blocked out over 30 & it just continues,non stop.Now I'm telling them off.Hanging up didn't work,Now I'm telling them call is being recorded & will be forwared to Federal Authorities in violation of the do not call list.Just got another call minutes after the last one.This must stop!Its all scams.

i've been telling them that this call is being recorded and will be forward to the authorities and they hang up but call back.  so i still get the calls.  I'm with ATT and they want 5 dollars a month so i can block up to 30 calls.  I pay enough money to ATT and  i feel that I shouldn't have to pay for block calls since I didn't put my number out there for these people to get.  they are the ones that should pay.  next i'm gonna get a whistle and blow their eardrums out after i talk real low that they have to turn their volume up on the phone  maybe that will teach them.  I just got on the Do Not Call registry list so i have to wait 3 more weeks to file a complaint, but I know these scam artists will just change their numbers again.
