- FedUpThese guys left a very convincing voicemail message claiming to be United Healthcare. I was instructed to call back with my membership number and date of birth, then answer a few questions to update and renew my annual membership. Fortunately, I had recently received my new membership card and even made a call to UH confirming I was current. With all of the health and Medicaid junk mail and nonstop phone soliciting this time of year it’s hard to keep up with it all. My advice: verify and close your membership transaction by phone with a human on a verified number. Do it earlier than later so you can toss all of that junk mail coming your way as well as give directions to the onslaught of phone solicitors as to where to go. Remember: if you see an unknown caller with an 888 number, it’s probably another obnoxious marketing call. Beware!

- Jack C| 1 reply888-585-1381 Contrary to the other posts, I was able to confirm with UnitedHealthcare that this is NOT a scam number. I called the number on my ID card and the representative looked it up and confirm that I should call the number and answer the questions required by Medicare annually. When I called, all I had to give was my birthday and the system recognized me. I didn't have to give any other information and just responded to the questions from the automated system.
- Caller: United Health Care
- Call type: Valid
- Nimrod replies to Jack CStrange, I have Googled this number and I got returns for other phone number reporting sites where the posters state that they too contacted UnitedHealthcare and were told that this number is NOT part of their system.
Even if it was a valid number for UnitedHealthcare, it does not mean that the call was actually from them, since scammers can spoof any number to try to pose as a company representative hoping to phish personal information from people. Those same scammers will come to sites such as this and make posts claiming that everything is OK and that people should trust the number. Which begs the question: Jack C, are you a shill for scammers? (You need not reply, since we know that even if you are, you would reply "No".) - YA RIGHT,BEWARE of comment above by Jack C. (with no picture)...
I double checked all the facts..
It is not associated with United Healthcare.... it is a scam, scam, scam!!!!....
That comment is just part of a scammer Network supporting itself to give doubt..... all the other comments about scamming are true.... Jack C can bite my D......

- JasmurieReceive a call from this # at least once a day, sometimes 2. Leave the same message about UHC and to call. I don’t! Just spoke to someone at UHC last week at their real # and already updated all my info. These scammers are idiots!!

- CarolynThey have repeatedly called me even though I actually fell for it last month when I enrolled. The only reason I questioned it was because they said they needed to do it once a year and it hasn't been over a month. I almost don't answer my phone anymore unless it's my family. They wanted to verify my personal info.

- simI got the calls from this number and other numbers. Glad I read the postings here and blocked the numbers. Today I received a mail from UHC for health assessment. In the letter, it stated "... Medicare requires us to ask you some questions and it only take a few minutes to complete. By answering a few questions about your health history and any recent health changes, we're able to help suggest the programs and resource that best fit your needs. Your answers won't affect your plan benefits, so make the most of the chance to get better support." Call back is 888-585-1381. Weird?? Medicare does not question any pre-existing health problem. I have my medicare part C and part D in place and no need for other benefit. Since it does not change my plan benefits, how will health assessment get me a better support? Also the number is not associated to UHC. From the health assessment questionnaire, its questions are related to inability or handicapped in daily activities. It's SUSPECTED that they are trying to sell in home nursing or similar service, products or insurance.

- Vikes fanI emailed UnitedHealthcare and I got back the following response:"Our records indicate that neither 888-585-1381 or 612-435-8151 are associated with UnitedHealthcare. I apologize for any inconvenience. I would definitely recommend not providing callers with your personal information unless you are absolutely sure who they are affiliated with. You are always more than welcome to reach out to us via secure email or by contacting the customer service telephone number on the back of your member ID card" As YA Right stated correctly, JC is probably part of the scam.
