Got a call from"Caleb" about cancellation of my student loan. I've called.back numerous times to harass them. They don't block my number.

Someone named Shawn advised that he can help arrange to pay less on your federal student loans before the federal forbearance ends on December 31, 2020.

Caller said they were from the student loan division and wanted me to submit paperwork before forebearance ends on my student loan. Clearly a fraudster since I have never had any student loans. My phone didn't even make one full ring, and then I suddenly had a voice mail; not sure how they managed that. The caller id was actually 206-289-9011, but the message asked me to call 888-588-4978.

The call came 650-238-9694, but the message asked me to call 888-588-4978.

Someone named "Caleb" from student loan division called from 808-460-7055 stating my student loan temporary forbearance expires 31 Dec 2020. And to call back at 888-588-4978. I don't have a student loan. This is a scam.

Caller said they were from the student loan division and wanted me to submit paperwork before the end of the year. The caller id was actually 510-201-5795, but the message asked to call 888-588-4978.

Like others had stated received call from local number did even ring a full ring got voicemail not even using my name. Wanted me to call them by 5 pacific time. Very weird.

Got a call from Shawn about my student loan and wanted me to call back at 888-588-4978 to start my application. I did call back and some woman answered saying her name was Mariel. As I went into conversation with her I started feeling a bit weird because I had told her I had received many scam calls and wanted to verify this wasn’t one of them and she got a bit nervous and was having trouble telling me exactly from where she was calling me so I said I would have to call back at another time because I didn’t know how much I exactly owed. Glad I didn’t give her any of my personal info.

Received a call my phone identified as spam, call appeared to originate from the area but received a voicemail and was told to call Shawn back at 888-588-4978 about getting an application going for student loan forbearance before the deadline of the end of the year

Just received a call saying time is running out on 31 December to apply for some type of Federal Student Loan. I had a missed call and voice mail from this person. Hopefully the new administration will put back in place the policy that the Obama administration had in place to keep these robots calls and scammers from pulling this crap.

Do you honestly think that if "the policy that the Obama administration had in place" is reinstated it will somehow miraculously "keep these robots calls and scammers from pulling this crap"? Because I know of no law or policy that criminals will actually obey.

I also got a call from a number in Cambria,CA but at&t blocked it as spam, but I still got the voice mail saying “ Hi this is Sean with the student loan division giving you a call regarding your federal student loans _⁠_⁠_ the _⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_ _⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_ _⁠_ _⁠_⁠_⁠_ on _⁠_⁠_ December 31 so come 1 January _⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_ back to making your student loan payments if you are still searching for more permanent solution go ahead and give us a call back the time that we have left to try to get your application submitted and approved is moving pretty quickly since today is December 11 um so if you're trying to get it taken care of before the first of the year it's important that we get your paperwork started as soon as possible we're in the office today until 5 PM Pacific standard time you can reach us at 888-588-4978 once again that phone number is 888-588-4978 hope to hear from you soon thanks…” I’m in college but have never taken out any loans at least not yet, but I have gotten grants which I don’t have to pay back. So be aware

Got call from Shaun (or Shawn) about my student loan forebearance period expiring. It's not set to expire anytime soon, however, so it seemed fake

Sean called saying he was from the federal loan division and stated the the Forbearance period runs out Dec 31 and I need to call immediately to make arrangements

I just ran into the same problem.   He answered the phone and clearly was a scam artist.  He indicated that he would have my number removed from their system.  I began to ask him to remove my daughter’s phone number, but he hung up on me.

Got a call from "Caleb" about my student loans (which I never took out).

I just received that call today too.
