- Tygerkat replies to Bill| 2 repliesSo why did you come to a phone number lookup site? You know who called you.
- AlIn the last few months I've gotten numerous persistent survey calls after each doctor visit, which I've answered directly and hung up, or they left this number on my answering machine or voice mail to call back. This number seems to be some legitimate national medical survey company, who contracts with your local physicians group or hospital.
The automated survey calls are legal since patients are doing medical business with whoever ordered the calls. In answer to Mike H, about why survey callers don't identify themselves, that's due to a federal health privacy law named HIPAA.
To get surveys stopped, patients need to call their local physicians practice group or hospital administration. Patients need to distinguish between appointment reminders (good) and surveys (bad). Persistent wrong number calls for "Tiffiny" like ej got, as a first try should also be reported to a local physicians group administration, even if one is not a patient, since they may know who to call to delete the error.
I finally made this administration call today. It wasn't easy to find who to call, as my physicians practice group is a partner in a giant regional health corporation. I finally found the administration number using their website Site Map.
I asked their receptionist to take me off of the survey call list (may be quick, or take up to a month). There is no "unsubscribe from survey calls" on the giant regional health group's web portal patient profile (where one's email is registered), so I also asked them to install a survey unsubscribe checkbox at the profile (may take a year, if they cooperate at all).- Caller: unknown vendor to doctors' group

- Tygerkat replies to JaneWhy doesn't Mike's comment "hold water"?

Jane:
What about your post? Just because a call is legitimate for one person does not mean it is for someone else. There is something called Caller ID spoofing which is a common tactic used by scammers. Your post is full of bologna. - TheRealSeriously® replies to JaneNext time do some actual research before making a dumb comment like that. And here-free link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing
- MikeHuntleton replies to JaneI am sorry if I somehow disappointed you with useful information you could not comprehend. I would love to be more helpful in the information I give, but you have not said what specifically it was that has you confused.
Here on this website, posting detailed info about a legitimate call is NOT useful to people who come to find out about an unknown/unwanted caller. Simply knowing who the number might belong to is more than enough to decide if it was legitimate for them, worth investigating further or something to ignore. As noted before, scammers spoof legitimate numbers all the time and pretend to be from that number, so how can anyone trust when the caller is legitimate?
Posting the details is not really helpful , since it is simply unnecessary. People come here to warn others about unwanted calls or learn about them, that is the main goal of this site. Posting the details of scammers and other criminal type calls is VERY USEFUL since it helps spread the word and educates people of those out to steal your money.
Scammers come here too, because they want to see what people say about the number they spoofed and when someone posts details of a legitimate call, its useful to them to help improve their scam. Scammers come to also post phony legitimate reports to reassure call victims its not a scammer. Why would anyone want to help a scammer by trying to reassure call recipients its a legitimate caller? When someone posts "its not a scam", that raises a red flag as to why someone is trying so hard to reassure everyone it has to be legit. Everyone needs to be cautious of an unexpected caller these days.
So I hope this helps "patch" the hole so my comments now hold water for you again.
