This was a call from CIBC Credit Card services. They left a message saying they needed to talk to me... So I called the number on MY card, not the number on the caller ID just in case...

So the number is really CIBC as they were aware of it. They asked me details about my "new" credit card with a PIN and a security chip. I've never used that feature and I've had this card for almost a year now. They didn't try to sell me anything. Don't know why they called.

I called them back from the number that they gave me. Then I realize I should have called the number on the back of my credit card. Especially these days when you don't really know who's calling you even when you do have call display.

I know why they called. They wondered if there was something wrong with the card, since the PIN for the security chip of the credit card has not been used since they have mailed it to me. I explained that for my situation I was using it for online purchases only and that's why the chip had not been entered. They're just making sure that the cards themselves have not been compromised in any way.

I called CIBC with the number on my card and he said he had no idea what the other call was about, that there are no messages on the account.

Soooo, I'm not phoning back the other number and I NEVER give personal info to someone who calls me.

A message was left. I called back, they wanted to let me know my CC pin had been blocked.  After, I talked to them I called a number from my CIBC card to confirm and yes the information was noted on my account.  This number is a valid CIBC number.

    Yes, it is from CIBC.
They ask you to verify card information as a security check, then ask if you are aware of the importance of the PIN number on the new, chipped, cards ... because their trnasaction records show you may not have used it.
After a little lecture on the unfolding transition to chip readers at merchants, they warn you to be aware that PIN numbers, rather than signatures, will be necessary for future transactions.
They will try to upsell you on an Aeroplan card (annual fee) card at the end of the call. Seems legit, although mildly annoying.

Just received a call today with my actual name stated on the pre-recorded message. It was CIBC Visa - I called them back - albeit I didn't even think to ignore the # they gave me and use the one I had on file....  Turns out they didn't ask me any personal info, they just verified who I was with my phone number and last four digits on my credit card, as well as confirming the name as it appeared on the card.  I actually asked them how I would know it was really CIBC Visa I was talking to and the guy was really forthcoming.

I hardly use my Visa with the exception of for online purchases so they wanted to make sure I change my pin at the bank to something that I will remember versus the pin they gave me.  That's about it.

got a call today.  If it is cibc should know I don't have a card with them.  More phishing soliciting from inept csrs and shady scam artists.  If you call the number they will say anything to only want to know the phone number they are calling is a real number.  Get ready for more nuisance calls.

After recieving an automated message from this number, I called the number on the back of my card just to be safe. The lady I talked to said she was glad she called her instead of the other number because she couldn't find a department connected to that number.

So if anyone gets a call from that number saying the have an urgent message for you, DO NOT call them back,  just called the number on the back of your card. They will check your account to see if anything is wrong.

I just got a phone call from that #18886035478 about my pin CIBC  said it is not aware of this call. I gave them some of my information however not the 3 digits on my back of my card. I got a doubt and I hang up my phone. They never called me back. CIBC should do something to protect his clients

Just got a VM from 888-603-5478.  When I called (which sounded very official) they asked for my name, phone #, and credit card #.  At that point I told the lady that I was very uncomfortable giving out the info and if they need info from me or to advise me of a problem, I was going to contact my account rep at the local branch and basically hung up.  I then called the # on the back of my client card and they couldn't tell me if this was a CIBC # or not.  I was then transferred to Visa and they had no record of calling me.  When I called the phone # on the back of my card, I was prompted to enter my debit card #.  When I called 5478, that was not an option.  I was also told by CIBC they can look up my account info by using my phone #.  Don't call them back.  Good thing I listened to that little voice in the back of my brain.  cheers.

I received a  call from this number. . I gave them no info as they asked for my credit card number.  If it were a legit call  CIBC has that information. I called my bank and they gave me a  visa number to call.  When I  called Visa they checked and found that they had no record of this number.  and that  the number  was no way connected with  VISA. They said it was a fishing call  trying to get info they could use.. The post already here could be from some of those same people .  I don't see how they claim the number is legit  while  VISA assures me that it is not a legit number.   BEWARE OF PEOPLE PUTTING POSTS HERE. Do not believe everything you read.  It Could drain your bank account

I had received the recording fro an alleged CIBC rep. regarding my PIN.So i did what you all should do is first phone the CIBC number at the back of your own CIBC Visa card. The representative told me that the recorded call was legit and wanted to ask me about the reset on my PIN. Always phone CIBC directly to be safe
