Called my husband's cell, then my cell from private number. Husband answered his call. They asked for me under my maiden name, and said that 'They would consider her served'. They then called my cell, and left a VM, this time using my married name. Woman gave the name of Debbie Frank, and said she was contacting me about charges being filed against me. I called back and was told that I was being taken to court regarding a payday loan supposedly taken out in 2011. They threatened to take me to court when I denied taking out a payday loan, and hung up on me.

Called my son's phone, left message saying her name was Jessica Brown, that charges had been filed against me, she needed my address and place of employment to serve papers, and that I had been officially notified. I'm notifying law enforcement, this is unlawful harassment.

"No Caller ID" --- Tara Daniels from "The Firm"  left a voicemail from requesting for me wanting to verify my home and work address. The voicemail then stated that charges have been filed against me,  I had one opportunity to resolve this with "The Firm" and i have officially been notified. No "Firm" name mentioned, no letters received, also no caller ID. Do not call these people back at the 888-627-1967 number left on the voicemail, it is either a scam or an abusive debt collector.

A female stating her name was Tara Daniels told me she was looking for my son because charges were being filed against him. She told me she was a process server for the "State" and he needed to call Before they took action. I asked her "with the State of Texas?" And she hesitate ks before confirming. When I asked her who he needed to call, she told me Statewide and gave me a phone number and "case number" and when I challenged her on why my son needed to call Statewide if she was a "processor " with the State of Texas, she became angry and instructed me to have my son call and hung up on me.

Angela Moore - Called from a blocked number telling me she was a process server with the "State of Texas" - said I had to call this 888 number within 30 minutes or she would be out to serve me a process and she needed my address which I refused to provide... wouldn't give me any other information or her license number. Called back after 30 minutes and when asked how am I to know this isn't a scam she said I would know when she was standing in front of me.

This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
