- CThey actually sent me a text message saying a card that was on automatic renewal was about to expire. I DON'T have an account with Direct TV, so I called the number in the text message. They had a voice-reading menu like every other major company, and when I was finally redirected to an 'agent', I had a bad feeling in my gut about it all. But, just based off of my phone number, they knew my dad's name (who DOES have a Direct TV account), and were correct that my card was about to expire. I didn't give them any info, and they didn't bother me about any info either. But totally don't trust these guys. They're definitely not Direct TV.

- sam| 3 repliesThis actually is direct tv. I also got a text msg. Called the number. Gave info then felt weird so called direct tv from their website and they had in their notes the exact conversation i had with the lady from this number on my text. Direct tv has more than 1 888 number.

- RobinThis is most definitely not direct tv. I also called the number from my text message stating my cc was invalid (had JUST expired), and after getting the bad feeling after updating new card info, called direct tv and was told this was fraud and to call cc company immediately. I am now getting harassing calls from "united benefits" threatening me, yelling at me, and calling so repeatedly when I hung up on them, that I had to take my phone off of the hook. Total fraud/scam.
- Caller: United benefits
- s king replies to samDon't believe this....I have never had credit card...never known someone that has direct tv and I have a brand new pay as you go phone..my guess is that this is someone who works for scam posting
- PBTaylorI got a call from this number through text message stating my payment did not go through for my auto pay with Directv. I went to Directv and realized I had received a new banking card and had forgotten to change. I changed it online and everything was fine. I did dial the number back and it is Directv.
- Call type: Event reminder
- PHM replies to sam| 1 replyI got the text too. Called the number and actually provided my updated credit card info through the automated phone help. Then I wondered if it was fraud when I realized the phone number provided in the text was different than the phone number provided on directv.com. So, I called the directv.com and they were able to confirm that I had updated my card info and also confirm that the phone number provided in the text is in fact directv. In my case at least, this was not a scam. The agent I spoke with explained that the number provided in the text is a back office number rather than the main 800 number.
- ValerieWe got a text message saying our debit/credit card used for autopay was invalid. Asked us to visit DIRECTV.com or call this number to update. Considering I saw our payment clear the bank, I knew this wasn't right. I checked my account just to be sure, and sure enough, no problem with my card or payment.

- MOLLY MCGRATHI received a text saying they needed updated information. After I called back I realized it was a scam and cancelled my card.
- Caller: DIRECT TV
- B. JensenTHIS IS DIRECT TV. I got the text. Called it. They had my info but there was a problem processing the card. I had to make another call. When I called Direct TV back I used the online listed number instead of the text message one. The woman I talked to confirmed that I had just called and spoke with a different agent and even gave me his name. It's not a scam.
