- cautious momThese are scamers posing as assurance wireless . Its not the real company. They are after any and all of your personal information. Call the number on your bill if you do have free phone service with them. A.G. office & FBI are aware of this.

- Char replies to Kevin| 2 repliesThe # on their website is : 888-898-4888
- Julie| 1 replyIt IS the valid number for Assurance Wireless annual certification. Here's the link to the relevant section of their FAQ: http://www.assurancewireless.com/Public/FAQs.aspx#faq4
Having said that, the only methods that Assurance has ever used to contact me about certification are by text or by snail-mail. If you get a phone call claiming to be Assurance, THAT might very well be a scammer, but this phone number is the correct one if *you* call *them.*- Caller: Assurance Wireless
- Call type: Event reminder

- AmyHave gotten a few calls from this number. It is Assurance Wireless calling to remind me to re-certify my lifeline eligibility. I moved to a new state and re-applied for the Assurance Wireless program because I moved. Me and my dad filled out the required re-application paperwork and mailed it to Assurance Wireless. It's been over a month since my re-application paperwork was mailed in. I was informed that I would not need to re-certify my lifeline eligibility once my new paperwork was processed. If this number calls you, call the number on the Assurance Wireless website to double check if you need to do anything urgent.

- Angie replies to CharI have been getting calls from the above 9262 number repeatedly (I have never answered), I also get texts all the time from 279 saying to call the 888-653-9262 number to certify my lifeline assurance wireless phone. It is a government phone that doesn't even take pics, and it's definitely not a smart phone but it does seem really weird that according to the real Assurance Wireless number 888-321-5880 (the one I was given along with the phone I received and the one I call to pay for more minutes each month) I don't have to certify until December, it freaks me out a bit that these calls and texts have been coming regularly since March and that you have yet another number for the same business! I can't say that I have any clue what is going on but I am so glad I looked the 888 number up and was then able to match it to the number I have been getting these texts telling me to call and certify when I don't have to. I'm going to be sure to certify through the 5880 number I normally use when the time comes - the 4888 number you found online could be legitimate as well but I'm going to stick with the number that I haven't had any issues with and block the others from my phone=) I'm not sure what made me chose you specifically to reply to, but thank you everyone for helping me to figure out that something seems off and to be careful=)
- Angie replies to BPIt is scary all the different ways there are out there that can get you scammed!! Not only do I not answer numbers that I do not know (as well as go to this site to find out who they are), I don't trust texts from numbers I don't recognize, nor do I trust any webpage with my personal information or to give me any address or phone number that would be requesting my personal info. You aren't crazy - there are fake ads in newspapers that steal money and Social Security numbers, and there are fake bills that come into offices almost weekly from people hoping that whoever is working will just pay the bill without checking to make sure that it is actually owed and an infinite number of additional crazy schemes I've come across/heard about. My credit card number was used by someone to buy all kinds of goods and services (which I was unable to cancel because I didn't know the name on the account of the person who was getting services with my card number) when I was 18 even though I physically still had the card and I had never bought anything off the internet - It was a nightmare that took years to clear up but I have been very skeptical ever since, unfortunately my skepticism doesn't make me feel like something similar couldn't easily happen again=( Did you stop reading yet? I know how you feel....my rant is whole lot longer and way crazier sounding than yours - lol. I usually keep my mouth shut about it but reading your post hit a nerve or something.

What documents do I need to submit?
If you live in FL, GA, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OR, TX and WI you do not need to submit documents if you are applying based on participation in the following programs: - TedThis is Assurance Wireless. They are probably calling to verify your # and tell you that new federal rules say you must make at least 1 call or send at least 1 text EVERY 30 DAYS to keep your phone active.
- Caller: Assurance Wireless
- Call type: Event reminder
- BryanI didn't pick up the phone when this number called this afternoon. After reading the replies here, glad I didn't.
- Doris replies to Hal SYes it is the correct number but assurance will only text or send mail informing you to recertify. If this number calls you dont answer. Call the number back it will let you know when you need to certify. The person calling is a scam using a spoofed number to get your information. The certification is done by automated phone call where you call the number or the website.
- JMHas called everyday since before Christmas on my cell and leaving a message with two dirty words then they hang up. I looked up the number and it says it belongs to Assurance Wireless also a name came up Mike DeBlaey.
- Caller: Mike DeBlaey Assurance Wireless
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- post pending moderator approval
- TheRealSeriously® replies to LeeWay to be a troll. You don't seem to understand that scammers spoof legit numbers and what may be legit for you isn't for everyone! Plus, not everyone has this company. You shiilling for them?
