This is a call back number for MKM Acquisitions LLC. who claim that they
have purchased a debt owed by you as far back as 1996. I pulled up the
number that they had called from and found 3 pages of violations and
suits filed against them, however, I gave that information to the friend
who had received threatening phone calls from them.  There are many more
companies doing the same thing, which is illegal, but they scare people
into paying them. MKM Acquisitions is based in New York and they target
senior citizens on limited income.   When they call write down the number
and keep a log on times and dates of phone calls, ignore the phone calls or collection letters, buy a whistle and blow it into the receiver, pull
up MKM or the company calling you and mail the information on them back to them without a return address.

Well, I recieved a letter from them regarding a VERY old account that I did default on, I did have a judgement, and it was then thrown out. Becuase at the time, the bank allowed me to open a checking account without an adult on the account with me. So technically, being under the age of 18, I was not legally contractuably liable. However, let me be clear by saying this is WAY off my credit report. (actually the banks fault for "losing" a deposit I made through the atm) but I am planning on sending a statue of limitations latter to MKM Acquisitions, and see if they honor that. We will see.
