"Michael" from the "Document Verification Dept." Left a message for me to call this number back. He claimed they are trying to serve me, and if they cannot serve me they will have no choice but to proceed with legal action with or without me.
I called the number and spoke with a "Jim Sanders". He brought up a very old account I have, that is waaaay past the statute of limitations, that is not even on my credit report anymore. It sounds like these people are junk debt collectors. I informed him that the account was past the statute of limitations, and legally, they cannot collect on it. He said they would let a judge decide that. In my opinion, he was using scare tactics. I advised him that I would have my attorney call him and he hung up on me. I did in fact call my attorney and give him all of the information so as to see if they are an FDCPA violation. If they are, that means that my attorney and I will get a judgment against them!
You do not have to put up with their crap, especially not their threats! If you do not have an attorney, just look one up that practices consumer law.
