GOD YOU PEOPLE ARE SO IGNORANT!!!
I don't hope to hear from you!!!!!! - PeteI used to deal with the Bank of Montreal but several years ago switched to the Royal Bank. After several years of rude behavior at the branch level, one day there was a very long line (actually out the door) with only two tellers on duty at the busy noon to 1 P.M. slot at a busy downtown branch and they were actually sharing a terminal even though there were 9 others unused. The branch manger came out of his office to look at the line and then called another person out of his office with his camera, they took some pictures, laughed, went back into their offices and closed their doors. I got to the front of the line, closed my account and went to the Royal.
At the Royal there have been a few mistakes made, sometimes their fault and sometimes mine and I have gotten a phone call. Call display always shows it's the Royal Bank calling, they identify themselves by name and refer to me as Mr. The problem gets resolved in a friendly, professional manner. I still get calls from Bank of Montreal and they are trying to sell me something but before they identify themselves or even say hello they demand my name. You cannot convince me that the Bank of Montreal has ever won an award for courtesy either on the phone or at the branch level.
We all hate the banks. I am certain there is a similar complaint to this about the Royal and every other brand of bank but none can be as bad as BoM. And to clarify, no I am not nor ever have been employed directly or indirectly by any bank.- Caller: Bank of montreal

- George A.I got a call from 1-888-676-2269, a guy who says he works for BMO, said that I owe BMO $230 on their BMO MasterCard, but I am NOT a BMO client, and I do NOT have their credit card.
Is this a legitimate call or some sort of scam?
Anyway, I will go directly to BMO office near my place to discuss with real person.
Thanks for your advices. - ex-BMO-IT-StaffCalled today.... answered on second ring... BMO hung upon me.
Yes, I do indeed have a late payment, so no problem there.
Just embarrasing to think that the bank I worked at for over 20 years in their IT department can't seem to make an automated call system work properly. I guess they are getting their money's worth from those cheaper "youngsters" they replaced the experienced long term staff with!
"And it's BMO in the lead for the race to mediocrity!"- Caller: According to this site.. BMO

- s.deng| 1 replyyou chose to use credit cards, you chose to spend more than you make, fall into a hole and continue using your cards... this is nothing but your own fault. now if someone asked you for 5000.00 dollars, you LOANED it to them and then they spent it all (on [***], because we look at your charges, nothing ever worth it) and then vanished, your telling me you wouldnt call them?
it pisses me off when you guys come to us for loans or mtgs or mastercards then rack it up like its free money then pull a "im better than you" attitude, its a bunch of [***]. we call for a min pymt - just 2% of everyhting you have charged... if you cant cover 2% of what you spent on the card.. your a useless individual and you need to stop breathing my oxygen - Employee...| 1 replyWow... im shocked by what the "other employee" wrote...
and i apologize to anyone who was offended by what he said... as i was myself.
i can tell you that the number calling you is bmo. and i can say it is just to notify of a late payment or outstanding balance (usually over the limit)
they simply want to discuss with you
if you feel uncomfortable speaking to the person calling you feel free to contact your branch or Direct Banking (1-800-363-9992 for English or 1-800-361-6681 for French) and they will be pleased to assist you and put you in touch with the right person.
i have to say that i am ashamed by this person who says theyre a bmo employee. I for an instance LOVE my job, love what I do and LOVE helping customer. I am serious about what I do and am proud to be BMO's employee. Sorry to everyone who had to be influenced by this person's lack of respect and lack of intelligence on the internet. I believe my employer values its customers and I can prove it with the work and effort i put in to my work everyday.
Never forget that if you believe you are a victim of a telephone spam or fraud, please contact phone busters, your bank or even your local police station. they will be able to guide you.- Caller: BMO BANK OF MONTREAL

- Another BMO Customer replies to Employee...Thank you for posting this. I have been a BMO credit card customer for several years now and I have never been treated rudely by any BMO employee who has ever called me...for any reason. They have always been polite and respectful. Thank you BMO.
- No BMO account| 1 replyI received several messages from 1-888-676-2269 requesting that I call back immediately. When I did so, I was asked questions regarding an account that I DO NOT HAVE. I do not, and have NEVER had a BMO account or product.
I investigated further by calling the general BMO information line at 1-877-225-5266 and confirmed that YES, the calls were legitimately coming from the Account Management Department (Collections) at BMO. While the gentleman at BMO general inquiries was very polite, he could not help me, because (catch-22) I claimed to not be the owner of the account, and therefore had no rights to inquire about it!
HOWEVER, this still does not explain how BMO Collections have an account in MY NAME at MY PHONE NUMBER when I have never signed up or used a BMO product. In fact, they do not have any information for my ADDRESS, with my phone number, which screams to me that someone has opened an account in my name with my phone number, but has listed a different address (so as to not alert me to the fraud?).
This is not a question of me "racking up debt" and "refusing to pay". I am concerned that someone has fraudulently used my information to open an account, and has stopped making payments - which, since it is now tied to MY NAME could negatively affect MY credit rating.- Caller: BMO Account Management

- anonymous replies to No BMO accounti too work for bmo collections, and apologise toanyone offended by previous comments of the BMO employee that posted here...the bank may be calling you because you have the same name as someone we are trying to contact...we do general searches to find phone numbers that may possibly be the person we are looking for...a different department will contact you regarding any fraudulant activity it would not be from 8886762269 which is strictly collections for BMO lending products.
i always try to treat customers the way i would like to be treated, unfortunately there are a few people out there that are rude and ignorant but it does not define BMO as a whole. we are a great company and i am very proud to be employed with them.
on average an agent can call up to 200 accounts per day, and 70% of those calls we leave a generic message including your name, our name, stating it is BMO and our phone number. Dont be scared to call back...if you are missing payments, we are only there to help you get back on track, and you will be suprised with the amount of options we have for you to do just that. i do take offense to the individuals stating we are good for nothing human beings and thrive on others when they are not in a good financial situation. yes of course if it wasnt for deliquent accounts, i would not have a job at collections but somewhere else at the bank. It is most definitly not the "mcdonalds" of the banking world, we are corporate BMO employees that make pretty good money for a stressful job. we ultimately are just like all of you, working hard to make ends meet and try to upport our families to the best of our abilities...
i hope our image is not tarnished because i do enjoy speaking with all of you no matter situation you are in.
take care everyone - Concerned BMO account holderYou know, I've been with BMO for some time, we've had our ups and downs. But this is a killer. If this number does belong to BMO, the least they could do is talk. This number has called me 3 times today so far, and every time I answer within the first 2 rings. This is a perfectly reasonable answering time if you ask me. But the second I answer they hang up. I had to google to find this page just to find out who it was. Either they need to re-work their system so this doesn't happen, or they need to find out who's using this number behind their backs and stop it, because this is incredibly frustrating.

- Tom| 2 repliesBMO is ruining my life. Yes, I have made mistake. Tough times cause me to be in debt. I owe money and am late on a payment. I Know. I Know. But please don't call me 4 times a day, EVERYDAY!! 8am, 10am, 5pm, 6pm etc..After talking to one agent and being lectured and harassed I dread taking to any other rep. Stop calling my home and my work place. I'm working night and day. I'm trying my hardest to pay up. I said I would pay the damn bill, but the calls keep on coming. If they really wanted to help they would stop the outrageous interests charges.
- fixing things slowly but surely replies to TomTom, do yourself a favour, hold back a bit of a payment to the wolves at BMO and get yourself a copy of "The Wolf at the Door: What to Do When Collection Agencies Come Calling", written by Mark Anthony Silverthorn (a former collection agency lawyer). It is a book about collection agencies in Canada and how to deal with them. It has worked for me. You can make them stop calling. You can save yourself thousands of dollars paying back their interest tallied on top of interest and keep your dignity. No doubt the bank was the one who kept loaning you more money without checking to see if this was a good idea. They are the ones playing roulette and they play it with people's lives in order to make money, plain and simple.
- jasi replies to TomThey have started calling my workplace too. If these calls keep on coming I'm definitely going to get fired.
- DIXIEDOG replies to KsThey call way more than just once!! Even after you speak to someone and make arrangements for payments they are still calling back the next day!!!!
- jbs replies to KsLook who's talking you ignorant douche.
Rent and food come before credit and you know. And you know what, maybe something comes up. Maybe someone dies and all the money they have saved goes towards a funeral and casket. So shut the f**k up clown.
By the way, you should quit this job and go work at the poop plant so you can dump all that crap you're full of.
Ass. - annoyedi am not a BMO client. never have been. never will be. and i STILL get these calls daily. wtff
- DeeThis is NOT Bank of Montreal calling. My husband kept getting phone calls from this number trying to get him to provide personal information. We kept hanging up, but were worried that something may be wrong. So we went into a Bank of Montreal and they said no, they haven't tried to phone and there is nothing wrong with his account. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYONE TRYING TO GET PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE. They are trying to steal your identity!!!!!!!!!!
