- joe six pack| 6 repliesLeaving up to four messages a day on my land line's answering machine. As well as messages on my cell phone and my wife's cell phone several times a day.
Gives name as Steve king. Calls regarding his need to have you call him back immediately about an important matter. States he is NOT a telephone solicitor. And strongly advises you to call back immediately.
I am preparing to file a bankruptcy, and I screen ALL calls. I have NOT talked with this person.

- joeTHese bottom feeders call me about a 14 year old debt that has been transferred to quite a few collectors. The loan was issued by Sallie Mae as a student loan for my son to get tutoring. When it was paid down to less than $ 1,000 I requested a deferment which they had previously given me. They charged me a $20 fee and then did not contact me for three months. At the end of that time I called to start payments again and was told the loan was in default and sitting on MR Smiths desk. He was just about to call me. They then began a campaign of harassment calling my son an 8 year old ten times in a row one day when I had gone down the street to get gas for my car.insisting he PUT ME ON THE PHONE They also called my husband at his place of employment, One collector cursed me out telling me I was a BAD MOTHER to my HOW OLD IS YOUR CHILD? EIGHT ? I stopped paying. Now this bunch of creeps wants $4500 and it is a personal loan! The loan is past the statutory limit. I told them I would give them 1 cent on the dollar which is probably what they paid to purchase it.

- Belle replies to joe six packNot necessarily collection agency. I just got one of the calls and I don't owe anyone in collection agency - I only have a small equity loan with my Credit Union. Don't fall for it - don't let them get your voice print. Sorry about the bankruptcy. Sign of our times. I have have two children in their 50s with long careers that had to move back 'home'. Hang in there
- Belle replies to WBPlease don't ever ever ever ans. numbers you don't know. Write it down and research on Google. If you feel you MUST know who called, use a different number to call back, then blow a loud whistle in their ear or scream really loud - I can do that quite well. :)

How do I file a complaint against a collection agency?
Tip. If you believe a debt collector is harassing you, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372). You can also contact your state's attorney general. You can also sue the debt collector for violations of the FDCPA.Jan 11, 2017
Can a debt collector call you at work?
No. A debt collector may not contact you at inconvenient times or places, such as before 8 in the morning or after 9 at night, unless you agree to it. And collectors may not contact you at work if they're told (orally or in writing) that you're not allowed to get calls there. - Belle| 1 replyWe are so sick of these people. Is there no law against 'credit card' calls??? Got a whistle people? Use it when you get one of these numbers blow your whistle LOUD!!!! Probably won't help
- Caller: credit card do not own one.
- MikeHuntleton replies to Belle
You are correct, as it will NOT help....Quote:Got a whistle people? Use it when you get one of these numbers blow your whistle LOUD!!!! Probably won't help
Sound begins to distort at high levels from your phone's microphone and is only as loud as the receiver's volume level. You will be the ONLY one who hears the full volume of such a stunt and might be damaging to your hearing, not theirs.
Here is an example to help you understand why it wouldn't work:
Take your camera and point it directly at the Sun and send the video to someone (or yourself) and it will ONLY display as brightly as the device's screen resolution allows, not as bright as the actual Sun. Sound works in the same manner on a phone or computer. - Joe KI learned long time ago NOT to answer calls from these people. I just block them from all my phones and it works!!!

- AvnGrlThis is one of many computer generated calls (robo-dialing, which is illegal). No person ever answers, it is only a computer generated recording claiming to be a debt collector, and provides a 'call back number' (888-682-2259)that is much different from the one showing on caller id (706-826-2672). Of course, that is how these scam artists operate, they claim to be a debt collector, gather your personal information, and then suddenly (if you've fallen for it, and they have you hook, line & sinker) you have become a victim to identity fraud, and financial fraud. I have blocked the number, but because it is a computer generated number, the numbers that show on the caller ID change with each call.... no real way to stop these calls, and the NDNCR seems to be pointless, as reported calls never cease.
