PC scam designed to get you to allow them to connect to your computer for malicious reasons

I had this pop up on my laptap which was detected as malicious malware and blocked!

I just got a message on my computer with this number saying I had a malicious malware on the computer and I was to call the number right away, it said it was ATT. I was scared by it and looked it up here to see if it was for real. it would not let me use my computer. I am running my kaspersky security on it right now. I did not call the number.

I got a message on my computer after unknowingly mis-typing the hotmail.com user login page (mis-typed as hotmial) and the page redirected me to a "Time Warner" cable warning page saying I had malicious malware on my computer and needed to call them immediately at 888-684-5783 to fix it (or my service would be interrupted).  It's a tricky page because it won't let you type in any other address without redirecting back to the same warning page.  This has happened to me before, but this is the first time since I moved to Time Warner.  I mention it because the other times it happened (with my old service) the website also knew what web service I was connecting from.  I ran my malware scan and nothing came up as malicious or suspect each time this happened (yes, it is up to date).  I never called the number either and never had service interruption.  I just closed the connection and re-started a new browser session.

Received a popup on my computer saying it was Verizon and that they detected a serious malware on my computer.  I called and sure enough it was a foreign speaking person saying he was from Microsoft.  BIG SCAM

The clear the message:
Hold Ctrl+Alt+delete on your keyboard and release.
Click "Start Task Manger" , a new window will appear.
Click the internet browser you use such as" google chrome" and click "End Task"
