- Tf| 1 replySays they are they are ADR firm for Spotloan. Several other phone numbers too like 877-210-5558 and 503-218-3069. Caller ID says unknown. Caller says to call office this is the official notification and you need to call to discuss voluntary deliberation or unfourtuantly papers will be turned over to such and such. They called yesterday too. A lady named Jessica Anderson. This guy sounds like Mike Stevenson from Spotloan.

- EV replies to TfI got a call today. None of the information seems legit. Be careful everyone.
- Cheryl NajeraCalled several times but never identifies themselves or the company they work for. Just leaves a threatening message.
- AGThe recording is incredibly accusatory, not naming a person, but claiming that there is a debt to be paid and the person who answered the phone has "deliberately" ignored requests. I was in a mood and pressed 1 to talk to someone directly and told her to remove this number from their database. She said that she is going to serve whomever they were looking for at his place of employment. I told her we do not accept servings and I will send them to our agent of service. She paused for a moment and said "You cannot tell us how we are going to...." Didn't hear the rest as I cut her off and told "I can. Your courier will have to go to (a city an hour away, where the agent is)." Told her to have a good day and hung up on her.
She called back from (504) 215-8444 and said "I don't know if you're the one who just hung up on me...." then I hung up on her. This number and the original one are going to auto-voicemail now.
I believe this is at least an incredibly aggressive debt collector, at worst a debt collection scam, preying upon people by scaring them. Send to voicemail. Any debt collector will reach you by more legitimate means than a recording.- Caller: Integrity Debt Relief

- Mel| 1 replyThis place is not only calling my cell and work phone but MANY of My CO-WORKERS as well. They don't say a name but do threaten & say it is for bounced checks. One of my Co-Workers called back thinking it was a message for them since they don't state a name. They then asked my Co-Worker if they were me (Said my name) and then gave a "case number" and said I need to call or I will be charged with Fraud and several other counts. This is RIDICULOUS!! Even if I owed them money this is Illegal! I have talked to a Lawyer & he says it sounds like a scam. Either way what they are doing is ILLEGAL!!! They won't tell me the name of their company. I have asked if them to send me proof of debt in writing by mail (which they are required to do). They refuse! VERY RUDE.

- BigA replies to MelIf your lawyer actually said "sounds like" then I would say you need a new lawyer.
This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying. They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number. Please note that process servers do not ever call ahead. That way you can’t dodge them.
If you feel you SSN has been compromised, in addition to putting a fraud alert at the 3 credit bureaus, you may want to notify the IRS. Here is the link, fill out the proper form (probably 14039):
http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/How-Do-You-Rep ... aud-Activity%3F
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I asked if they could please mail me the complaint with the name of the creditor and amount owed. He told me that I was going to be served on Friday. Again I asked that it be mailed, that by law they had to and I had 30 days to dispute it. He told me I just didn't want to pay my debt and I said why would I pay for something if I don't know what it is! He hung up on me!
So my thing is this why won't they tell me who the creditor is? And why are they telling me I'm going to be servered? What ever happened to sending you documents through the post office. So frustrated!- Caller: Legal department

- BigA replies to RharrisonCriminals masquerading as debt collectors attempt to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged (they use the bad check or hot check claim a lot) and go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished without actually being sued or going to court, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money. They will use the words “Mediator”, “Arbitrator”, or “Law Office” to make you believe that they are something other than a debt collector want-a-be and that they don’t have to follow Federal and State collection laws. They do have to follow those laws, but they won’t. They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer). Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them. Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.
