To prove to the judge you owe them money they have to provide clear evidence the loan even exists.
But before they do that, they have to send you that proof by US Mail within 5 days of calling you, and you have 30 days in which to dispute the loan - in writing. After that they can decide whether to sue you or not.
Your attorney should have told you this. Also, when they call again, give them your attorney's number and address tell them they can no longer call you; all calls go to your attorney.

This is the NAR or    "Neiman Aguilar Rochester Group".  This is an overseas scam.  They call from a variety of numbers.  Many times they call claiming to represent an American state.  If you call them up they will say they are in Miami but have "48 locations in the US "  which is a flashing red light for the overseas scam.  No idea where they are really located but this is a  clear debt collection scam.  They seem to emulate American debt scammers.  And if you talk to one of their reps-- you find that they do have an accent but, but it doesn't seem Hindi. So, not Indy/[***]--but maybe people  in the Caribbean, . In any event ignore and block their calls.

I have received the exact same call and was told that I had an unpaid debt that was referred to them and that I was going to be sued by the company unless I could set up payment arrangements with them (NAR) to stop the company from suing me.  I was also told that I would be summoned at work and at home.  They refused to tell me the name of the company and would not give me any information on how to contact them. I also have not received ONE single letter from this so-called company regarding this and absolutely nothing from them besides the relentless phone calls.   I was so nervous and upset because I do not remember this unpaid debt, which apparently is from over 7 years ago.  Now that I have looked them up I now see that they are completely trying to scam people.  Thank you everyone for the information, I am not going to fall for this crap!!

This is the exact phone call I got about some PayDay Cash Advance that I never paid back.  They would not give me one ounce of information other than what I owed and if I didn't set up an arrangement with them I would be summoned at both work and home and have to go to court for outrages charges.  The number they gave me to call them back at was 855-208-1727.  It is kind of scary how much information they had about me AND how they got my cell phone number which has changed quite a few times over the years.  I almost did set up a payment arrangement with them but I do NOT know what they are even talking about and the fact that they would not even give me the name of the so-called company raised a red flag with me.  They called again today when they told me they would call on Weds, (today is Friday) and gave me a case number.  I am so glad I found this site an now know they are trying to scam people.  Blocking them from my phone and will not answer any phone calls from them. Also, apparently this goes back 7 years or more and I have never once received any letters from whatever company they are talking about nor have I ever received anything from NAR.

Just as I suspected.  This group is most likely in the Caribbean.  Could very well be Jamaica.  Thanks for the post Samantha.  You're a total foo-foo and it looks like we got your goat, Mon.

Lots of malarkey included in there but neither Samantha, Mary, whoever, mentioned any information on just who they paid. I'd look out, there's plenty on here smart enough to sniff out a rat and you've already met three of them.

This company, NAR Group has been calling me on my cell and at my place of work for about a week now. They started  calling from an 800 number then from a local one. They claim I took out not one, but TWO $500 loans which I stopped paying on in 2008! They use outdated information and couldn't give me any details about the alleged debt. The woman was rude, unprofessional, and grossly misinformed. I flat out told her I knew she was a scammer and she got really ugly and said she'd be contacting my supervisor to serve me papers. I responded, well I guess I need a lawyer and she said " I hope it's a good one because you're going to need it!" I then hung up on her. That was on Saturday and no one called to speak to my supervisor yesterday or today.

Same thing happened to me today, such threats and they hung up and called my daughter in Kansas and left threatening messages on her phone.  How they were coming after me on my job, they were pressing charges over several complaints at my local township.... I knew something was wrong they were using a name that I haven't used for 9 years. They use a number to call you based on what your numbers prefix is.  This scam is sickening.

I contacted the FBI's office and they said this company is a scam and do not deal with them.  Ignore all of there calls and threats.  It is also best to report them to your local police department.

I am so sick of the calls they call with a 484 number and ask you to call an 877 number.  Called my job. Called my cell 6 times in a 5 minute span.  This is totally harassment. The gym doesn't do anything. I changed my phone number.  They are so unprofessional.

They are calling my job and trying to contact my supervisor.  I will try to find an address to send them a Cease and Desist letter and forward this to the NYS Attorney General Office.  I will not put up with these scam artists trying to mess up my job.  If anyone has good contact information, please post it for others who are having problems with these scammers.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

I do not owe anything to anyone from the NAR Group, so not even sure what the "claim" is.  They are calling my place of employment using a SPOOFED local number -813-540-4518 (which is illegal to spoof by the way, under consumer protection law) but tell me to call 877-228-2418 to resolve a claim.  I've told miss Cathy Brown (when she's clearly not a Cathy Brown by her deep accent) to stop calling and I've repeatedly told her call spoofing is illegal.  She decided to start robocalling me with an automated message after I told her off today!
