These people do nothing but change their number every few days. For days on end, they claimed the guide lines for student loans were going to change and to hurry up and not miss this opportunity. Nut cases are still calling months later. I've asked them to stop and it didn't. So this is what does make it stop....text stop! And it will stop them.

I'm in my mid-70s; the government student loan schemes weren't operating when I was in college.  But somehow my name was put on a list of people whose student loans are in arrears.  So I receive an average of 2-3 phone calls every week from jackals like these. Aren't unsolicited calls like these illegal?

Called this morning at 7:25am.  Just like Ross I went to college over 40 years ago on a scholarship.  Ain't got no student loans.  None for my kids either.  Number was already blocked for me.  I found another call from this number in October that was also before 9am.

Received a phone call from this number this morning. I told them that we did not have any student loans & to take my number off the list. I was told by the caller that they would stop under one condition & that was if I would have sex with them....so vulgar that I can't even post what they said.

Just received a call from this number on my cell. I didn't answer and no message left. Dialed by using *67 to block my number and get a recording in spanish saying the number is not in service. Total scam. Block the number.

These people call every week and usually multiple times a week.  From thus phone number and others.  I ask every time to make my name/info out of their database yet they still call.  I have reported them to the FTC months ago.  What good is the FTC if they don't immediately fine and/or shut these crooks down?  More our govt tax dollars wasted.

That post is hilarious.  You really expect the FTC to drop everything and respond to your single complaint?

Caller was asking for me by formal first name. Call was same as above dealing with student loans...asked them which one and at what school.(I have had no loans and attended two colleges for undergrad and masters degree ) I was Put on hold but could hear conversation anyway. Foreign accent. He evidently was told to hang up. Hope you all can nail these frauds.

Same as everyone else. Random idiot with an East Indian accent claims he works for "the government" and I owe on a student loan. He asked if I have a student loan, so I said "Yeah".  He asked how much. So I said if he works for the government he would already know the amount. He claims he did know, but needs me to confirm it "for security reasons". I told him it was the same amount that his mother paid me to have sexual relations with her butt (of course I used much harsher language).  Annnnnd *click*... LOL!!!!

This is not one single complaint this is several hundred complaints. This is just one of more than a dozen websites that look up numbers and all are having this same problem. They use a a machine that changes the numbers to a unused number and in some cases use real numbers. Got a call a couple weeks ago and they left a message so I called it back because it was a local Verizon number got some poor lady who had no idea what I was talking about said she had over a dozen calls about it and some were not to nice and a couple had cussed her out. As someone said these are out of country and trolling for information. Some of these callers got peoples names from data bases that were hacked others just start dialing numbers hoping that someone will answer or call back. Most are not even in this country that is why it is so hard for the FTC to get them!!!

So, out of those several hundred complaints, how many of them actually took the time to report to the FTC?  Plus if you read the post that I replied to, you would understand that person expected his complaint to, and I quote, "immediately fine and/or shut these crooks down?".  Thus my answer.  Reading everything and putting all together instead of taking something out of context helps you to understand what is being said.
