Just got call. Claims Windows dept. Says infected computer and insisted I go to computer and begin deleting infected files. Gave me my computer license for verification. Gave me name and said from SNL?? Felt of windows. Calling Windows customer support.

It's a scam. Someone trying to access computers per Microsoft virtual chat.

Scam.  Microsoft support will not call you about issues with your computer.  Do not give these scanners remote access to your computer!!! These people tried this with me today around 4:05pm est.

recieved scam call from 18887045412. Call is from scam company.

the number 18887045412 gave a call and told me to do the same but they told me that they are not related to microsoft in any way and they just told us that its totally upto us whether we want to go with them or not its totally are wish and they also told us that they are not from windows department

Any place does NOT call you to provide support. You are supposed to call them.

PEOPLE !!  DO NOT LET ANYONE HAVE REMOTE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER !!  EVER !!
If you need technical service, do your own research and contact the service provider yourself. Call the service provider by a verified number ONLY! Do not call numbers provided to you in e-mails, on blogs, on discussion boards or by telemarketer.
"Technical Support" people do NOT call you unless you have requested a call back. EVER !!
"Technical Support" people have NOT detected any "issues" with your computer. EVER !!
These "support" people want access to your info. through your computer, will corrupt your computer & will try to milk you for money to "fix" your computer. They are frauds & scammers. That's what they are, that's all they'll ever be!

Received same call although caller ID showed a different number then the call back # I was given. The caller and then his 'supervisor' became very irritated when I continued to question why they were calling me about my computer.

Matthew just called me providing the same information.  Sounded very professional.  When I told him I had a problem with a call that I did not initiate and a problem with calling a number that he gave me because I had no way to know who/where I was calling, he replied that he was calling from Windows and that it is my computer, and that I am responsible for keeping it safe.



My secruity software says all is well...

So they are still at it.

Beware of any call that you do not initiate and any telephone number the unitiated call provides.
