I have called back 3 times and all I get is voice mail so I left her a few "nice" she needs to govern herself not me messages.

- Felicia replies to EmilyI just received a call at my employer ordering me to write down 8887244111, and then he hung up on me refusting to state who he is and the company that he works for. I called back and I was transferred to a Margo, who stated to me that I owe monies from a pay day loan company in 2004, and they are collecting the debt. I filed bankruptcy in 2004, and before you can get an answer out, she began to yell at me and hung the phone up. They are rude, and they refuse to acknowledge who they are representing .I spoke to someone name Margo at 8887244111.
- ec replies to Jamie| 1 replyThese type of calls from debt collectors border on the illegal. They can't leave messages with other people that suggest you have legal or financial problems. They can only communicate such things with you directly. I searched this phone number and found another website which indicate these calls may be coming from Atlanta.
Regardless, you should read familiarize yourself with what collectors can do and can't do, and with how you should deal with them. Check out these links:

http://www.naca.net/debt-collection-abuse/ - ec replies to kelaBased on information I've seen here and on other websites, they be collectors for Payday Loans. Check out these links before dealing with them:

If you do call them back, tell them nothing other than that you will only deal with them in writing and not over the phone. I'd also tell them that they are not to call other people regarding a matter that pertains to you. I'm sure they'll get rude and nasty after you tell them that; just ignore their bluster and tell them that it's not a matter for debate. And whatever you do, don't agree to anything over the phone. You'll find plenty of helpful information in the links above, including how to write and mail a cease-communication letter to the collector (if it comes to that.) Good luck. - Emeraldisle72 replies to ecI keep getting these same calls. At least one or twice a week. They have threatened to send the police to my work place and have me arrested. Can they do this?? They are threatening my receptionists too, which is upsetting everyone.

- Diana replies to Carmen888-724-4111 -- Someone named Anthony Freeman left me a message that this was a "documented" attempt to reach me. Huh? He even used someone else's name. I called back and we went round and round with them asking my name, which I wouldn't give, and me asking their business name which they wouldn't give. I asked for Anthony Freeman and the gal talking to me seemed puzzled, then she told me oh, Anthony is in a "deposition." I asked her what kind of "deposition" -- who was deposing him? And she got muddled, haha. And then she said it was an Important Task Force meeting. Very funny. I said, " oh? which task force?" And she said "The United States Task Force." Hilarious. I'm not sure whether to report them to the police or to the local funny farm. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
- DanielleI received a call from this number also, it was a woman named Kathleen Kerr. I took a payday loan out in 2006 and a few months later I had moved and all my checks went missing. I had to cancel that account and opened a new one, but I had lost the information in the move for the loan so I couldn't contact them. I was hoping they would contact me when they went to withdraw the money, but they never did. I didn't hear anything from them until now. They called me at work and they are demanding $500 to settle out of court, but they want it by 1pm today. I don't have that kind of money just sitting around for I am a single mother. Now they are threatening to call my job and inform them of all of this and have me arrested for stealing money and breech of contract. I have no problem paying my debt, however, how am I supposed to know they are ligitimate and didn't just get my information from the internet when I did the payday loan? They told me when I tried to explain to them what happened that it is not there job to contact me if there was a problem paying my loan. Well, I just told you I lost the paper work with the info and they can call me now to pay this amount in a few hours. If I intended on never paying it I wouldn't have made the payments for a few months. I already paid more then the amount of the loan as it was. I'm just worried if they do call my job because I can't afford to lose it.

Stated that I had to pay my balance in full today or it would go into futher proceedings.I did have a payday loan with a company called FSM, but it was paid off. I had that bank account closed due to fraud and had to open a new one. I have never heard from anybody about this loan until today. She ( Karen ) was actually nice about it but to settle out of court I would need to pay 388.00 today. Of course I don't have that kind of money just floating around. I talked to them about setting up a payment arrangment to settle this but they would not do this. She gave me the name of the company which is State Predisposition Service and gave me a phone number to get back in touch with her. The number was 1-888-724-4111 Ext. 408. Karen.

- ec replies to TABATHA| 1 replyIgnore the calls from States Predisposition Services/FSM Group /Bass & Associates/Kirby & Associates (or whatever name they're going by this week) and report them to law enforcement. Here's everything you need to know about them.
The people behind States Predisposition Services/FSM are crooks in the truest sense of the word. They appear to be associated with an infamous debt collection scam in Florida that goes by several names: Ellis Crosby & Associates/Bass & Associates/Jackson Phillips & Associates. These debt collectors are currently being sued by the Florida Attorney General for multiple violations of debt collection laws. Check out this excerpt from a recent article in the Jacksonville Times-Union newspaper, and note the last sentence:
"Among the most prominent complaints: Claiming or implying to be attorneys or government agents, threatening arrest or legal action, claiming or collecting exorbitant debt amounts and using harassing or intimidation techniques such as repeated phone calls or calls to a debtor's place of work. In July, Attorney General Bill McCollum's office filed a $1.3 million lawsuit against the firm - also known as Jackson Phillips & Associates - and earlier this week , state attorneys won the first round of the battle in a Jacksonville courtroom by defeating the agency's motion to dismiss the case. A motion to shut down the firm while the case proceeds will be heard in January. The state is also working with Georgia officials to determine whether Bass is trying to escape Florida prosecution by moving across the state line to Folkston, Ga. Records at Folkston City Hall show that a business license was issued in June to Bass officials Frank and Evelyn Jackson to establish a collection agency called States Predisposition Services Inc."

I suggest you do all of the following:
1) Give them nothing, and tell them nothing about yourself other than that you're reported them to federal and state authorities. (Once you tell them that, they'll probably cuss you out, threaten you and then hang up on you.)
2) File a complaint online with the Federal Trade Commission here: https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01
3) Report this call to Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum at http://myfloridalegal.com/contact.nsf/contact?Open&Section=Attorney_General
4) Report all the same information to the Georgia Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs at http://consumer.georgia.gov/00/channel_modifi ... 5687815,00.html
5) File a complaint with your state's attorney general. The contact info for each state's attorney general is at www.naag.org
6) File a complaint online with the FBI at http://tips.fbi.gov
7) File a complaint with your local police.

If someone broke into your home and stole your belongings, you would probably contact law enforcement. This case is no different; these grifters are tying to steal your money. Don't let these criminals at Bass/Jackson Phillips/States Predisposition/FSM victimize you. Contact the authorities and help put this crime syndicate out of business. Good luck. - ec replies to Annoyed| 3 repliesThey're crooks, of course. See my message below.
By the way, did you happen to get their fax number or any other identifying information about them?
