- cami| 1 replyMy spouse and I separately received voicemails from Piedmont Legal Service, they stated our names and said they had our social number and we needed to call back so they could deliver papers to our home or work address. I got one from 888-726-0356 x517 and my spouse got the call from 715-953-2295 x517. The callers name was Pat Moore. I called back and kept getting a voicemail. I googled and no business comes up with the name related to the number!!!!

- Alfalfa replies to camiThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - Lagregory| 2 repliesHi Cami
In response to your initial email pertaining to this company Piedmont Legal. They are in fact a legitimate company. I received a call from them as well in reference to some info they had attached to my name and ss#.
The call I initially received was not a threatening nor harassing phone call. They verified & confirmed I was in fact
and whom they were looking for before explaining what the call was about.
They did explain that they do not have a website because they do not advertise for services if that will answer your question about a website
After I heard them out I entered into a payment agreement with them. All necessary documents were sent to me in a timely fashion as the rep stated and I am secure that this is a legitimate company.- Caller: Piedmont

- Nimrod replies to Lagregory| 1 replyWow, this reads like a shill post trying to defend this outfit (and it only took two years to post it).
You received their call and then knew who they are (supposedly) and yet you came to a phone number lookup site and searched for a number that you already had identified.
You also come across as a fool, since you (supposedly) agreed to pay them for a debt that they had not yet proved in writing that you owed and that they had a legal right to collect.
(I use the term "supposedly" above because I believe that your tale is made of whole cloth.) - Deborah replies to NimrodNimrod.
Who are you to bash someone for their comment they posted in reference to what Cami stated in her post. Does it matter if it took 2 years or so for Lagregory to comment or respond about the company.
It appears to me that you are just what your name says...(A TOTAL NIMROD)) Btw what kind of name is that seeing that you come to insult people that are basically voicing their views and take on the company.
Everything is not always a scam. Maybe you are the scammer or committed some sort of illegal activity and they may have called you out on your BS. Is that why you (NIMROD) are so defensive and want to call people out for you BS!!!
