Got a call from UFC Recovery Specialist for a debt I didn't know I had. Said they were charging me with felony check charges for a debt I had years ago. I can't find any information of them online? Anyone else have any luck?

Ordinary debt is not a felony.  It could be a civil offense, but is NOT a criminal offense!

If you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:

I received a call from these people and they left very nasty messages my work phone, and with family members threaten to have me arrested if I don't pay a bill that I know anything about. I have asked for a statement mail to me and no one has sent me anything. I have filed a complaint on them because they can't keep harrassing people like this. I have advised them not to call my job or family members again. This is a scam because no information shows up for this company and the phone kept hanging up on me when I tried to call it back on Sunday.

I got a call from these _____ on Monday and I blew them off as bogus. But they called my grandmother as well and of course she got worried. So I went to the bank to get a statement for this mysterious transaction that happened 3 years ago. It showed nothing. So I called them back and requested the info they had on the transaction and she agreed to email it to me. Hours went by I still hadn't received an email so I called back and stayed on the phone until I got an email. Now! Once I opened the email it was addressed to someone else. ***red flag** then they sent another which was a word document without any header! So I was going to call back and request transaction info again but I instantly started cursing and telling them a piece of my mind. The lady on the other end was yelling as well! I just hate that there's someone out there that they're able to scam!!  Losers!!

You can attach those emails to a complaint filed with IC3, the cyber crimes division of the FBI. See the links in Elspeth's post above.

My son received a call indicating he owed $702 from 21/2 yrs ago for a pay day loan - they threatened him with felony fraud charges - he paniced even though he didn't think he owed it - he called me at work and I let him use my credit card to charge the fee to. Have since determined he didn't owe this and now they refuse to talk to us when we call them to get the money back

the same phone call today 1/7/14 regarding a loan I took out at the Cash Store a year ago. This guy by the name of Mr. Wolf said they had me on surveillance committing fraud & said I was going to be prosecuted for check fraud...it was as loan. He was so effin rude. I went to the Police department & let them listen to the message. I was informed to go back to the Cash Store & ask questions to see if this creditor was collecting for them.  They took down these numbers (309) 832-0304 or (844) 340-8481. You should never gets threats like this!!!

HI, what ended up happening in your sons case? I'm in the same situation and they are threatening to issue a warrant out for my arrest if I don't pay immediately. -Ive never even had a traffic ticket-They said I opened an online payday loan for $550.00 back in 2011, I clearly would remember if I had any type of loan opened. I told them its impossible that I opened that loan. They say that I must pay them immediatly or they will have the District Attorney issue a warrant for me . They say I need to pay  $977.00 immediately (that was the debt plus interest from the supposed loan) so that they can stop the legal processing and not file charges and look into it as a fraudulent case. I don't know what to do, I called the local police department and made a report and they told me that I did the right thing as far as contacting them and not giving the collectors any personal data over the phone.

I keep receiving calls from UFC Recovery Specialist stating that I owe for an online payday loan from Lazer lending back in 2013. They are saying that I need to pay $873 to settle or I will receive a summons. I asked for proof they sent a letter, that anyone could have made up. I called asking for more info. Kept putting me on hold then hanging up on me. They called my husbands number today.they won't give me any detailed info so I think they are a fraud!

If they refuse to send a letter, then they are a fraud
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
