This number came up on my screen telling me to call it to fix my computer.  They claim to be Microsoft but it is some india scammers trying to extort money from you.  Just hold the power button on computer to reboot or do a ctrl-alt-del from keyboard to exit the browser.  Never call that number.

I called that number and had them fix it, I paid them, do you think I can get my money back if I report it

Depends on how you paid them.  If you paid by CC or debit card, perhaps the bank will reverse the charges for fraud.  If you paid them by untraceable means, your money is lost.

Internet security 101:  Never give control over you computer to someone you do NOT personally know.

You should take your computer to a brick and mortar repair shop and tell them what happened.  You should have some sort of complete malware search done and any malware found should be removed.   As it stands, they probably have a lot of your personal information.  If they got access to any of your financial account numbers, make sure you change them out. NOW!

I got a call from them and they accessed my computer..... I had nothing opened and gave no personal info.... I shut my computer off.  Do I need to worry?
