I wish I had read this post months ago. They took 1200.00 from me. My step-mom got a phone call in October stating I could go to jail. She panicked and paid them.

That exactly happened to me, I mean with the exception that they were "on their way " to serve me, same story for an old debt from 2008, they had lots of information about me.

They are still at it. Yesterday my husband received a call stating that he owed a debt and that he had to pay because they were on their way to summons him for court he had until 4 o'clock which is about six hours from the time that he spoke to them to pay this debt that  was $4700 but they would settle the debt if he paid $3300.   Debt was old from J.P. Morgan.   I called Chase to find out if they sent debt to collections which would've been for no reason.  They said no.  The company was Blanchard law firm in Los Angeles California. The address is 11400 West Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA which is a tall tower. No suite number.  The name on the letter is Thomas L Smith.  They wanted payment in 2 days.  My husband was panicked and was willing to pay.  I told him no.  no one asks for money in 2 days.  There was never a letter to try to collect the debt first.  And there's no delinquency.  Do not panic do not pay do not give them any information. The email address was the same.  That legal process email.

Of interest! https://www.domainsbyproxy.com/ is a privacy company, and their emails are extorting money using people's personal information! How are they still a business, and how is it that no one has pressed charges against them?

What e mails would that company be sending out.  When you register a domain on the web, you have the option of using a privacy service.  If you do not, your name, address, and phone as well as your email address is made available to everyone and is harvested by bots used by the fake SEO scammers.  This service provides privacy by making anyone wanting to contact you go through their email.  There is nothing illegal about it, so how would charges be pressed against them?  How are they extorting money?

Received a phone call for a debt from 2007 or 2008, rep did not provide name, gave a fake address and said If I didn’t pay I’d have to go to court in May. He was verbally abusive he stated he was from chandler law group in Los Angeles, Ca. I provided him with an old email address and received a DocuSign email from consumerservices@legalprocess.info this company is total scam, don’t fall for it. He called back and left another VM which I ignored. I filed a complaint with the FTC and police
