- Anonymous| 1 replyRecieved a call from a Doug MacDonald re an olnine listing in the Canadian Business Directory. Said we owed them $734.94. We have no record of any such thing here and he quoted my bosses name that hasn't worked here for 3 years. They tried to get me to agree on the phone to paying the invoice (while taping the call for "quality assurance" purposes). Said they would mail me an invoice, but that company policy stated that they weren't able to fax me any information. Recieved an invoice via mail from "New Corporate America Publishing Inc" in Montreal Quebec, with a different 800 number on it (1-888-482-7955).
I sent them a fax stating that I couldn't pay this invoice until I recieved a copy of a signed contract. Haven't heard anything from them...- Caller: Canadian Business Directory
- Nicole replies to AnonymousFunny, I got the same thing. and I looked online, these people are complete scam artists. I called 1888-482-7955 and never get anyone b/c no one is ever there.. just a phone line set up to screen calls.. i told them I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and if they would like to call me back about paying this invoice then I will put them in touch with my lawyer who would handle all our dealing with them from here on in.. what a bunch of idiots.. brutal..
- SherryWe received a call in our office this morning from Doug McDonald telling me we owed $499 for services rendered over a year ago. I ask for a copy of the signed contract and he told me they had the owner on tape agreeing to pay for this phantom service. He wasted more than 10 minutes of my time (at times screaming) telling me the service would be canceled. I told him that's exactly what we wanted since I had never heard of New Corporate America OR the National Business Directory. After reading other posts it is confirmed he's a scammer. Reporting him to State Attorney General's office today.

- Rachel FCF ChurchReceived a phone call today from a 'Doug McDonald' with 'NewCorp' claiming that we authorized a 2 for 1 deal in 2009 for a listing in the 'National Business Guide'. Claimed he couldn't fax info but would mail it, along with a recording of the phone conversation agreeing to the listing. We have been scammed like this before so unless I see a signed contract they are getting nothing and I believe we will be reporting this company to the BBB in our area.

- California BusinessWe received a call from Doug McDonald this morning. This isn't the first time we've gotten a call from him. It's happens once or twice a year and it's always the same story, "You owe $ money for advertising in their business directory." He goes on to say it was authorized by our HR Mgr (who hasn't worked here in almost two years, and who never would have had any dealings with advertising/marketing). He becomes irate as I continue to tell him the HR Mgr could not authorize it and to cancel whatever it is he's claiming is printed in this book. He continues to yell. I continue to restate we didn't authorize it, won't pay for it, cancel it, blah,blah,blah... You get the idea. He becomes even more irate and I hang up. By the way, his number no longer shows up under caller ID. It simply shows "1+300". It would be great if someone could catch up with the guy and lock him away for good.

- Carol| 1 replyReceived a phone call from Doug MacDonald of New Corporate America Publishing Inc; He stated I had agreed to advertising my business in his company's business directory for 2 years - with the deal being the first year for free and payment of $734.94 ($699.95 plus tax) due for the 2nd year. I know for a fact that I never requested his services or services from any other business directory, yet he knew my personal name, business name, phone number and address. I do not advertise my personal company, since I have been working as a partnership, which operates under a different corporate name. This man was adamant that I owed this money, stating that he had a recording of my original agreement in 2010. I asked that he email me a copy of the supposed contract for services - which he was unable to do because of company policy. I informed him over & over that I did not request his services and instructed that if he believed otherwise to forward me proof of the agreement. I have had other scammers attempting the same type of extortion and when I've asked for proof I never hear from them again. However, two weeks later I received a phone call from New Corporate America Publishing verifying my mailing address so that an invoice could be sent. The invoice has arrived, but as I expected absolutely no proof included of an existing agreement, and no mention of the 2 year advertising term supposedly agreed to, just a bill for a one year listing with 30 days to pay. There has to be a way to be rid of scam artists like this and their high-handed intimidating tactics! Do we have no recourse to shut down such dishonest people?

Got the same call but my caller ID showed only 204. I told him I never agreed to their services. He said he would have to check his records but I agreed in March 2013. When I asked where would I find the ad he hung up.- Caller: New Coporate America Publishing

- DawnToday is the second time I got a call from 888-739-5621, from a Derek Johnson. Same scam as others have posted here. He told me I agreed to a 2 year listing in a Business Directory, which I never did! I told him I am not allowed to verbally agree to anything over the phone, and if he can show me something with my signature on it, I will look at it. I know he'll never send it because no such paper exists. The last time they called I asked him to fax me a copy and he said they can't fax anything without me paying the bill first. Told him I would have to be an idiot to pay for anything that they can't produce an invoice for. Same case today.... Said he would mail hard copies, and I said no, you won't and I won't be paying you, and I'll be hearing from you in a couple of months. Finally told him he is a scam artist, and I don't know how he sleeps at night, and he hung up on me!!! What scumbags. I wonder how many people fall for this, and pay them? I guess I need to report that number to the BBB.

- Dawn replies to CarolWow, Carol, you actually got an invoice? Every time I ask they say they can't fax it, but will mail it and it never comes. I got the same line as you though - that I agreed to a 2 year agreement, and the first year was free, but the second year is $899. So I asked if he meant 8 dollars and 99 cents, and he got annoyed and said "No, $899!! I told him I have worked here for 30 years, and I have never verbally agreed to anything over the phone. It is against company policy. I hate people like this that are just out to scam people out of their hard earned money. And the sad part is some people will believe them. I wish there was something we could do about this.
