- Lou Lou| 1 replyPretended to be an "Attorney Robert Edwards" harassed me about my friends auto loan. Somehow got all his phone numbers, and records phone calls? He cannot do that without consent. This guy is crazy.
- Call type: Debt collector
- ec replies to Lou LouI googled this number and found it referenced in a federal magistrate's ruling two years ago in the matter of a lawsuit filed by an Ohio woman alleging violations of federal debt collection laws and privacy laws against a company that that appears to be called "Multi Unit Services." (The woman who filed the suit is a relative of the person whom Multi Unit Services was seeking.)
The case is identified as "Maddox v. Martin Co., LLC" but in the ruling, the magistrate refers to the defendant as "Multi-Unit Services". I'm not sure who Martin Co., LLC is supposed to be; perhaps Multi-Unit Services is a d/b/a or a subsidiary of Martin Co., LLC...but that's just a guess on my part.
Anyway, here's the link to that ruling:
http://www.myfaircredit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3684 If you scroll down to the "Evidence Presented" heading, you'll see the transcript of several voice-mail messages that the plaintiff presented as evidence of her claims. One message begins "Yes, this is David Douglas at (888) 771-0415, my direct extension is 4512 ..."
So perhaps the call you received is from this Martin Co./Multi Unit Services.
I googled Multi Unit Services and found this listing of collection agencies: http://www.californialoancompanies.com/html/collection_agencies.html If you scroll down the page, you'll see this entry:
Multi Unit Services, Inc.

Hope this helps. - methe| 2 repliesThis was the number that I'm calling because my car is going to get repo.... The guy that left me a message this morning told me to call 1-888-771-0415 ext.4612.And then funny thing was that when this guy called me, it was coming from my home telphone number. When I called to ask the family if a cop had showed up at our house, they said no, no one ever showed up. When I called my auto company they told me to call this exact number and talk to a Sara Lewis ext4541. After a few calls back and forth, and was then unable to speak with her anymore... and now every time I call this number its telling me the number that I have dialed is no longer in service or has been disconnected. wtf is wrong with that?
I'm assuming this is a legit agency since my bank did refer me to this number. - Deke replies to methe| 1 replyJust a guess -- they collection agency used Caller ID spoofing software which allows them to customize or totally alter the caller ID information. Caller ID spoofing is totally legal, by the way. Hopefully, that will change someday)
Perhaps they thought it would panic you if you saw your own phone number as the point of origin. It is strange, though, because if they are a real company and they have a legitimate claim to repo your car, why bother with the game-playing and phone line disconnection?
Oh, just some advice. If you haven't been making the payments on your car, why not contact the lender to either look at other options or make arrangements yourself to return the car? That's what I would do, rather than waiting for the repo guys to take it away. Just some food for thought. Good luck. - Lisa replies to DekeI received a call today from a Mr. Edwards 888-771-0415 ext. 4612. The caller id showed the call was coming from my home phone#. I didn't answer, because I thought it was the phone company doing a test. Shortly after that call, the phone rang again and the caller id showed a friend's name and cell phone #. I answer the call and it wasn't the friend, but someone looking for him. He claimed he was attorney, Mr. Edwards and that he was given our number to reach the friend. I told him it didn't make sense because the friend doesn't live here, and he stated that he knew I have been in contact with the friend because he was able to view his cell phone records. Is this legal? I contacted attorney general, consumers affairs, FCC, FTC, and no one has an answer. The FTC did take the complaint, but I would like to know what can be done about this matter.
Lisa - MJZ888-771-0415 extension 4612. Claimed to be an attorney by the name of Bob Edwards. I did not have an account for the loan he was asking about and did not understand why he was calling me. Basically lied on the phone and attempted to harass me. The phone call came in as my caller ID.
- sellsDo not take anything from these guys. Get a lawyer and stand for your rights. This cannot happen anymore. They lie, cheat and also steal. Attorney "ROBERT EDWARDS" Is a lie, he does not exist at this company. Tell them off and get an attorney. They are all bark and no bite.
