This number belongs to Merrick Bank Fraud Department, it is an automated service wanting to verify recent activity on your credit card.  I considered this a really good call considering all of the credit card fraud going on out there.......

this number is the merrick fraud departmnt,,,call them from the number on the back of your card i recieved a call from this number today 5-7-09 and called the number on the back of my card and my card had  been hijacked,,if this number calls you its legit..also merricks homepage warns of phone scam going around

So get this, I get a call from from an 877 number and they leave a message  on google talk and I get this text….

So I google the phone number that called and I find the information on this  number well when I see it’s merrick bank, I call the number on the back of my card, I say I got a call from this number earlier wanting me to verify something so I give the lady the number and she transfers me to their fraud dept… well apparently I come to find out that today U-Haul tried to charge an extra 25.00 to the card somewhere out in Ohio and I live in California, but it flagged Merrick cause they did not use the 3 digit security code on the back of the card, That’s why they called. The girl on the phone asked if I had used U-Haul recently and I said no I used  U-Haul in July and as you can see from my statement history that the payment was already settled. She said it sounds like fraud, let me send you a new card and please destroy the one you have now since it has been compromised…. I was like wow! I would not have known until the bill came… or saw a weird charge!

That's to those here that told me who this was. I looked it up after getting a call.

They were checking on a transaction I had tried to make but was declined for security reasons. It appears the vendor must have had an issue with their system, because they were not passing the security code.

I received this call within an hour after the attempted charges (I tried twice, thinking I messed up something). Personnally I am glad they declined it and quickly let me know why. I decided NOT to do business with a company with sloppy credit card processing. Their loss.

If you get a call from this number it is to your benefit to talk to them. I thanked the Security Analyst at Merrick for their outstandfing job keeping my credit card information safe.

I received a message from this number asking to verify recent activity on my Merrick Bank credit card. I called the number provided and was directed to an automated system that quickly and conveniently allowed me to confirm that a recent online transaction on my card was valid. This is a great service and should be offered by more credit card companies!

I received the same call from Merrick. They were verifying my purhases on my card from the Fraud Dept.

Need to learn how to leave a voicemail

Is this legit?  I can't find this number tied to Merrick anywhere.  They called me 6 times today with no voice messages.  If it was important, wouldn't they leave a voicemail or would an issue be mentioned if I called the main number?

To be safe, I would call the number on the back of your bank card - that way, if the call is legitimate, the bank will be able to help you.

Just got a call from this number.  I don't have a Merrick card and if it was a real credit card company or fraud department, wouldn't they leave a message to call them back?

It's legit, I called the customer service number on the card and got forwarded over to the fraudulent charge dept.

I got a call from this number, they said they were from a TPS and associates on behalf of national cash advantage.  They said they would be taking me to court for a payday loan from 2010, in the amount of $4,800 unless I paid them $505.22 today.  I took down their information and called the payday loan place that they referenced.  According to the actual "creditor" National cash advance (not advantage btw),  the call I received was a scam, I do owe money but not anything near that.  Be aware and verify your debts.

 The caller is Merrick Bank fraud dept. They were verifying a transaction made on my card. It was legit.I appreciate their attention to anything unusual. I verified I made the transaction, it went through, no problems. Than you Merrick Bank.

Yes, it is legit. I called the # on the back of my card and they transferred me to the fraud dept. Someone tried to charge plane tickets for $7800. to my card in Great Britain! This is a great service!!

Called Merrick Bank back and someone had attempted to charge 104.00 today.  I had not madfe the charge and the bank declined it.  This service worked out great for me and I did not even know I had it.

This is Merrick Bank as all the previous posters reported. They declined a $3.18 charge and wanted to make sure it was in fact not mine. Said it was flagged b/c it came from a known fraudulent source that was phishing. She disabled my acct immediately and is re-issuing my card.

Returned call to them.  After jumping through a number of security questions I was put on hold to wait for a fraud rep.  Then they hung up on me.

LEGIT: Merrick Bank - called to verify purchases I recently made. The Voice Mail was only partial, and only left part of a phone number. I google it, found this site that said it was Merrick so called the number back. It was legit.
