Basically these guys are low life scum of the earth looking for people to take advantage of.  If you know your rights, don't be intimidated by these people.  The only reason they can't pull off the Nigerian scam is they are in the US.

I receive a call from one of my relatives who received a call from someone who indicated they had attempted to 'serve' me papers.  They left this relative their number (888-784-0755) and a case number. She then called me.

I then called this number and this professional outfit answers in a very non-professional way, quickly mentioning the name of the company (o, btw, use *67 when calling these people).  I get him to repeat the name of the company - 'Remington Law Group' . I tell him I was asked to call them, he asked for a case number and I told him I didn't have that information.  He asked my name and he covered the phone and spoke with someone (very unprofessional if you ask me). He put me on hold with some hokey music.

Then this individual answers the phone and ask me my case number (didn't the person you just talked to give you that since I didn't have that?)  I told him I didn't have one, so he asked my name and I gave that to him.

He then said they attempted to serve me last week but the paperwork was returned since I wasn't there to receive it (work from home, there all the time - you fail).

The conversation continued as I baited him into giving me information:

Half way through the conversation I informed him this call was being recorded.  He said I couldn't do that, so then I said, well if you keep talking, you  are consenting to having this conversation recorded - he didn't like that and complained but kept on talking.

He said he had my credit report and reeled off some information about accounts he believed I owed on - I have no idea what he was talking about.

I then said to him, this is how we will handle this, send me information about the account you are trying to collect and I will determine if it is mine and ask for validation from you.  He balked at this and said I would simply be served.

I told him that with the FDCRA, as he violates, he will get sued for each violation with fines of $1,000 or more.  He didn't think he was violating.

He hung up on me basically telling me I wasn't being responsible with my accounts and I should expect to be served.  I told him I can't wait.

We shall see if he follows through (they haven't in the past).

Same thing happened to me. They claim to have attempted to serve me but I was home on both days and no one ever knocked on my door. You can't fine any information about their so called law company online and when they answer they just say law group because who knows what different names their scamming people under.

@BUSTER DAVIS it seems to me your a professional debtor which means that you abuse the use of credit cards and lines of credit. Americans don't be fooled by this low life that doesn't take care of her financial responsibilities.......if you take care of your finances you wouldn't be called by process servers and bill collectors. Americans get sued on a daily basis for non payment of debt that why certain states have laws to protect consumers. just a little piece of advice, you wouldn't be getting calls if you took care of your financial responsibilities. The only people that are home all day are people who don't work or go to school, people who are disabled are also low life's they supplement there're income by using credit cards they cant pay.
