is this from Aetna  life ins co ?

My brother got a letter from "Aetna" which asked him to call the 888-788-2288 number. The told him they had a paid-up insurance policy of a long-deceased relative and he was listed as the sole survivor. Could he supply name, address, phone, and SSN for any other survivors? They could close their file and pay the claim. Bro called Aetna corporate phone number (he got if from a local insurance broker who handles Aetna) and asked if this was legit. They (Aetna corporate) responded in a week that they had NO record of such a policy.
DO NOT GIVE ANY INFO TO THIEVES AT 888-788-2288. If you get anything in writing from them, forward to fraud unit at the Aetna (find their REAL number and/or mailing address by yourself).

Just received a letter in the mail also. Its a scam do not respond or give any personal information.

Received a phone call requesting me to call 888-788-2288. I called but office closed for bad weather. Little research that I have done tells me not to give any info.

I received the letter, called, eventually sent the form and death certificate to Aetna and it was a legitimate policy.  I agree to not give info over the phone, but they are a 3rd party working with Aetna.

This company is Legit.  I just got off the phone with AETNA and they verified everything.  If you have any other questions, and want to make sure you are not being scammed, you can reach them at another number 800-858-3501.  They verified the same information that was on the letter sent to me.

I called the 800-858-3501 number listed above and they verified what V. Edwwards, Aetna. said. This is a third party hired by Aetna to follow up on claims. The fax number 1-800-238-6239 is also viable and able to be used. This is legit.

Got a message then a follow-up call from a Darius Wilmont who left me a number to call back that was out of service.  Eventually got in touch with him at 860 273-0123

This is a scam.  They left a message on my voice mail for a person I am not related to.   If you call the phone number they provide, it may sound legit at first but call the real Aetna and you will see it is not.   This phone number is not listed anywhere on Aetna's website.  Call the real Aetna at Aetna.com to verify.
