Phishing SCAM!!!  I just called American Express and verified that 888-800-5234 is trying to get your personal data.  Note, in the text, they don't know your name, cc number, or anything else personal. Thieves, scammers, BS artists.  They are investigating the source of the phishing scam.

Received a 10 second voicemail from this number. The reason I'm hesitant for calling it back is because they did not identify who they were and just asked me call back at earliest convenience. I've had so many spam and scam calls on my phone it's hard to say which phone number is legit or not.

Well most of the posters in this thread indicate that it is a call about an American Express card.  I learned that from reading the other posts.  So, if you have that card, call the number on the back of the card and ask them what they want.  If you don't have that card then this is simply another scam call and can be ignored.

This is a scam trying to pretend to be the American Express Identity Fraud line. This is not. It is a scam and there are accounts for the scammer on this site trying to say otherwise. This IS a scam. Do not interact. Do not call. Do not text.

They called me 2 days in a row. I don’t even have an American Express card.

This number is the AMEX fraud department. I called the number on the back of my card and they confirmed it. I have received text messages asking me to call them because of suspected fraud. Turns out, someone (accidentally) gave them my cell phone number as a contact.

Received a text requesting I call the number. Looked like a scam for a variety of reasons.  Called AMEX Customer Service instead. Replied that AMEX does not send texts; referred me to send message and number to spoof@americanexpress.com.

This was American Express fraud dept. I did not answer, but I did call the number on the back of my card and they said I had a fraud incident and transferred me to the fraud dept. If you see this number call you, you should contact Amex ASAP.

It was AX Calling “Relax”

Got a call from this number who hung up as soon as I answered. I called back and was told it was American Express and asked for confidential information that I did not provide. Instead, I called the number in the back of the card. This appears to be LEGIT call from AMERICAN EXPRESS Fraud Protection Sept.

This number is Amex.  I got this text, contact American Express on their real number and was told they did not text me.   Fraud Fraud all the way

I was in a barber's chair when the call came to the phone, since the number was unknown, it wasn't answered. Don't have an American Express card.

I got a txt message saying that Amex Fraud Free Message (?) got a card replacement request and asking me to call that number.
I called the number on the back of my card and was told that if the message don’t have my name and last digits of my card, it was not from Amex.

I received several voice mail messages from this number, all claiming to be from American Express fraud department.   They said to call this number back or call the number on the back of your card.    I called the number on my card and American Express said there were no problems with my cards and that the phone number is not one of theirs.   Another person in the household got the same set of calls.
