    Message left stating to call Jordan at Capital One.  They don't give a reason why they are calling.  As I haven't used this credit card and have a zero balance, I went on-line to Capital One's website and looked at their Customer Service numbers.  This number was not on the list.  Called Capital One and they checked and said that the number did not exist in their system.  So BEWARE as this is not Capital One calling you!

    Follow up to my previous message.  I was wrong.  This is a legit number from Capital One.  The guy I talked with at Capital One must not have realized that this number is connected with them.  It was a call regarding Savings Accounts and not credit card accounts.  Sorry about the mistake.

    This # is their fraud department!  Call them.  Someone got our info (SS#, etc.) and was trying to open or access our accounts!!

    Have received 3 calls from this number in the last week.  I refused to answer the first two and no voicemails were left.  I just answered the third call and it is an automated system saying, "This is Capital one calling [my name].  If you are [my name], press 1 to confirm your identity."  I hung up without pressing 1.  If this is truly their fraud department, as KRo states above, then they need a human being to call me to verify my identity, not a robot.

    As with so many illegal activities on the web, the owners of the illegal site come on these forums and say "Yes, it's legitimate!!"  By doing that people may start thinking "well, maybe it is legit" and pick up the phone.  DON'T.  I just got an eFAX from this number and I don't even have an eFAX account, not a CapitalOne account.  Just a bunch of scammers trying to prey on people.

    Again, the scammers that use this number have their employees write that the company is legit on reporting sites like these so that they can deceive you.  DON'T BUY IT.

    I checked the number under Capital One website, under contact, direct banking, its the number listed on their webpage. https://www.capitalone.com/contact/direct-banking/

    Whether the number belongs to Capital One is irrelevant: Caller ID is easy to fake, so a criminal is going to fake a number than belongs to Capital One.

    Just because somebody calls claiming to be from Capital One does mean make it a legitimate call. There are many bogus operations that use caller id spoofing in order to trick people into thinking a call is legitimate.

    being bounced around capitol one after they made me transfer my money to e-trade and e-trade telling me i have a zero balance in my account. capitol one calls this number their investigation team. i have been on hold for 1.5 hours and not hanging-up. i want my money and recording every number and rep i speak with for my attny.
