I don't know who you're accusing me of being, but I'm just a regular person like everyone else here doing my due diligence to make sure I don't t scammed by a company like International Monetary Metals.  I would like to hear you refute anything I posted about John Menoutis, the sales manager for IMM, since it's clear that you are responding as a current employee of that company.

    not falling for it
Just got the same call saying they have a package that was requested to be sent out to me but "it seems" they are missing my house number. It was from Chris Harrington and the callback number was 888-811-1718, ext. 218. I have a Call Wave number that I give when I don't want to give my home phone number. It sure filters a lot of scams. Oh, the location of the call is Hollywood, FL.

The ETF's are leveraging the metals 100:1 ratio in their "holdings." Meaning 99% is just paper contracts. This is nothing close to owning non-leveraged bullion. Don't let a greedy salesman talk tou into leverage! Much higher risk of loss when holding paper. Nice try though...

Got the same BS message about an undeliverable package from Joe Mumbler.  What a way to do business, kicking off the whole relationship with a lie!  Incredible.  The scary thing is, if he'd just identified himself, who he was with & said that the reason he was calling is that he wanted to sell me gold, I'd probably have called him back.  Having read these posts, I'm glad he acted suspicious enough to cause me to Google his number.
    Thanks to everyone who posted.

I just received a message from Jonathan Bryer at the above number, ext 204,  advising me there was an undeliverable package and they needed to confirm my address.  We are on the do not call list and I suppose if I called back, they could get around that technicality.  I have no idea where they got my name and number or what they want, but I too use Motely Fool.  The actual call was placed from 954 241 8930.  I don't plan to call back!!!!

Got message on ans machine and my caller ID showed International M  954-241-8930 from someone named Frank Mafo. Told me to call back at 888-811-1718 ext 202 and said he had a package with an incomplete address to send to me. I believe they got my number from a free small cap stock newsletter I signed up for the other day. I have a listed number, so he could have just searched my number to get my address, so I was skeptical about anything he had for me. A google search of the 888 number brought me to this site. I called them back and just told the gentleman I wasn't interested and don't call again. The only way to invest in gold and silver, IMHO, is physical gold in my possession and a little bit of stock play. Deal with a local dealer in cash and you can get some sweet deals, no questions asked, no paperwork trail. Better hurry though, as the paper trail will start on January 1st. With the new disclosure law the dealers will have to fill out a 1099 for anything $600 and over.

I got the same message...incomplete address. Called back and spoke to Gill @ ext 210. He seemed very knowledgeable but kept reminding me he was x-marine, meaning I guess that he is trustworthy. I had signed up for a penny stock newsletter the day before. They must have passed my name. He gave me a web site address of InternationalMonetaryMetals.com and found you guys instead, weird. They might be legit but...

Received a call from International Monetary Metals by a guy named Gil Stevenson stating he had a package for me but didn't have my full address, only my street name. Glad this site showed a similar thing happened to someone else. Seems dishonest and a scam.

Thank goodness for the ability to check out before you call.  Nice enough message; package; incomplete address; even stated part of my address but not going to call him back.  Said to ask for Vic Fishman, x.209.

I read you are a client of International Monetary Metals and you endorse this company.  I am just trying to confirm if they are REAL before I wire money -- for silver.  You can check me out -- I really am a grandmother in tennis shoes -- google Maggie Moore, Viatech Global.  How can I KNOW they are for real?

Got a call on Oct 4 2010 11:14 am EST. Said his name is Jow Semora and a package was returned, asked me to call him at 888-811-1718 extension 205.
This "returned package" scam must be working...they've been calling people with the same scam since 2008, is what it looks like from the fact the first person in this thread wrote about it in October 2008!
I'm glad everyone has added his/her input....it helps alert us to who was calling....a scammer!  I don't care if they are from Nigeria or wisteria, I don't need 'em!

In reply to those who are defending, or trying to legitimize this scam, or "business" as you put it: I find it difficult to believe that this many people are incorrectly filling out these "requests". Were these people actually interested in receiving whatever this package is, I have the feeling that they would have been more careful. Were this truly an investment opportunity in which people had any interest, they would a) be called by a broker they knew the name of b) recognize the name of the "company" calling them and c) not be totally unaware of this "package" that was supposed to be delivered to them.

In short, while apparently there are enough ignorant people to allow this scam to continue, for those of us savvy to know you're all full of shite, please leave us alone.

I too am a client and have visited their headquarters. they are a first class operation. not only are they a legit company they have made me $$$. The 15% is a one time fee that covers your insurance and storage of your bullion at an exchange approved depository as well as allowing you to trade for 5 yrs commission free. I got my fee back after 2 trades and couldnt be happier. Your entitled to [***] if thats what makes you feel better but this operation is not a scam. You can search high and low (as did I) and not find one complaint from anyone who lost money. Whining because you got a message on your answer machine you didnt like doesnt make the company who called you criminals.

I also received a message stating that he had a package for me and could not deliver it without confirming my address. He had my correct street name and claimed he did not have the street number ... didn't sound right so I "GOOGLED" the number. His name was Matthew and the number he left was 888.811.1718 ext. 209 ... caller I.D. showed 954.241.8930.
