This number is from City Wide Lending Group.
They will fax Realtors and call unsolicited people to get them pre-approved for Home Mortgages.

I just received a fax saying they had a buyer looking to purchase a home
in our area.  "May I refer these clients to you? If so, please call me at
(888)814-8896/".  It is 11:40PM in Florida - I immediately called and the
message said I couldn't leave a message.   The fax was sent from a Marie Johnson (Loan Officer) at Citiwide Lending Group.

We just received the exact same on office fax in law office in Atlanta.

Fax came in the middle of the night waking my family!!! It was the same one as I seen above. My name is Marie Johnson and I am with Citiwide Lending Group in CA. We have buyers who are looking to purchase a home in your  area, May I refer these clients to you? If so lease all me at  888-814-8896.
these calls and faxes should be illegal. NUMBER one if a real estate office gets referrals it is legit, this is not. A true referral has to have the signature of the client who KNOWS they are being referred out. I have seen agents pay for these 'referrals' when they are nothing but a lead from a computer generated system that gets addresses of people who are online price shopping mortgage rates to do refis!

Received a fax this morning with the same exact message from a "Marie Johnson"

I got the same fax- it's a bogus fax but it is still legit to do this- don't know what Brenda is talking about... the deal hasn't been "referred" yet so no need for a client signature. There's nothing wrong with inquiring first (if this wasn't a bogus sales tactic)

I was solicted by Todd from Citwidelending on 5/15/09 asking the zip codes I wanted to receive referrals from.
Then he faxed me an agreement to pay 40.00 per lead.
In addditon 10% to be paid on the backend.(Referral Fee.)
Red Flag for me is the upfront cost...

Just got the same fax today, 5/26.  Called and talked with Connie Landron and got the same spiel.  Sounds too good to be true and apparently is.

got the paperwork by fax and they are willing to 'give me a special deal" after she talked with her office manager.  I can buy 40 leads for only $30 apiece with no back end percentage.  $1200 and no back end decent leads either, I'll bet. What a scam/

My call came from  "Sarah,the friendly agent"  Same deal - she had buyers in my area and needed help.  Talked with Todd (operations manager)  Paid $630 for a three-month commitment of 7 buyers per month.
Watch out for their contract.  It authorizes them to continue taking $200 per month as long as they send you these "leads".
Sent them a fax telling them "No".  I don't authorize any further payments, but I don't trust them and think I have to change my account #

I was victimized. Do you have their bank account number that took your money ?
